Dear Hiring Manager,
It is with great interest and excitement that I submit my resume for an Accountant position.
I possess a strong passion for helping others and a successful background in marketing, sales, management and the human services field which make me a great fit for this position. In addition, I possess a B.Sc. with a Major in Accounting from the University of Aleppo in Syria, I got my education recognition from International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS), and am currently doing prerequisite classes for my CPA designation at NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business.
At the end of 2016 I completed the Immigrant Youth Employment Program (I-YEP) at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN). EMCN is a non-profit organization funded from the federal government with a mission to bridge the newcomers to the Canadian community and give them the chance to contribute to Canadian Labour Market. And shortly after completing the program, I began working in the capacity of I-YEP Employer Relations Developer at EMCN. A&W is one of the environment I would love to work in, based on my passion, interest and experience combined with my education.
In my role as an Employer Relations Developer, I provide guidance related to career planning, capacity building and referrals for necessary services. This role has allowed me to improve my problem solving, communication and multi-tasking skills. I built a strong rapport with clients in a very short time which resulted in a high commitment to program outcomes and an overall positive change in group dynamics. An important part of my role is to develop service plans, maintain records and clients files, and manage wage subsidy payments to employers. All of these responsibilities are critical to the success, and accurate budgeting of the program.
As an Assistant Manager of a clothing store in Syria, my responsibilities included the handling of payroll, human resource management, documentation for shipping and receiving, monthly reports with budgets, and ensuring the overall smooth operation of the store.
You may be asking why I am applying for this Accountant role. While I thoroughly enjoy my experience of Employer Relations Developer, and the team I work with, I see this position as an incredible opportunity to harmoniously blend my past and present education, my interpersonal, communication and adapatability skills.
I am excited to meet and discuss this opportunity in more detail. Please feel free to contact me at 780-***-**** or *****.*.*****@*****.*** at any time.
Best Regards,
Wadee Maghi
