Possess technical knowledge in areas as Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Hematology, Microbiology, Virology and Immunology at a level acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology with successful completion of a supervised one year clinical internship.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
Hematology
Performs Complete Blood Count (CBC) i.e. Red Blood Cell Count (RBC), White blood Cell Count (WBC) Hemoglobin (Hgb) & Hematocrit (Hct) Determinations and Differential count either manual or automated method using the Abbot Cell Dyne &/or Sysmex
Performs different hematology tests such as platelet count, reticulocyte count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
Conducts determination of Blood Indices such as Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC) using Coulter counter machine or Cell Dyne.
Performs Blood Coagulation Disorder studies such as Clotting Time (CT), Bleeding Time (BT), Clot Retraction Time (CRT), Prothrombin Time (PT) and Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT), Fibrinogen, Fibrin Degradation Products (FDP) using the Dade Behring Coagulometer machine.
Study blood smears, microscopically for cell differentiation, identification of Malarial parasites, Lupus Erythematosus (LE) cells, sickle cells (SC) and other variation in blood cellular elements.
Study blood smear microscopically to determine their various physiologic and pathologic conditions.
Clinical Chemistry
Performs manual &/or automated Diabetic Profile Determination i.e. Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), Random Blood Sugar (RBS), Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), Post Prandial Blood Sugar (PPBS)
Performs Liver Function Tests i.e. Total Protein (TP), Albumin, Globulin, A/G Ratio, Alkaline Phosphatase (A/P), SGPT, Total Bilirubin, Indirect Bilirubin (B1), Direct Bilirubin (B2)
Performs Kidney Function Tests such as Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) Blood Uric Acid (BUA), Creatinine
Performs Lipid Profile Tests such as Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)

Perform macroscopic examination of urine based on its color and transparency, reaction, specific gravity and pH using the Combi Scan Analyticon

Performs Sperm Analysis and Cell count of Biological Fluid like CSF and Pleural Fluid
Parasitology
Perform microscopic examination of stool samples to identify presence of intestinal parasite and protozoa in direct smear or Lugol’s iodine
Performs occult blood determination in stool using Hematest Strip
Blood Banking
Conducts donor screening by taking their history (age, weight, blood pressure) and performing serologic tests (hemoglobin and hematocrit determination, blood typing, RH typing, malarial smear, Hepatitis screening, HIV, VDRL, and RPR for syphilis)
Bleeding of qualified donors after being screened
Performs Crossmatching (Coomb’s Test) for blood transfusion

Performs Anti-streptolysin O Titer (ASO), Typhidot and Widal’s Test for Typhiod Fever, Immunoblot for Dengue Fever, VDRL and RPR, RA Factor for Rheumatoid Arthritis and C-reactive protein (CRP), Hepatitis Markers, Rubella IgG and IgM through the ELISA method
Performs Direct and Indirect Coomb’s Test
Performs Rh and Du Tests for Rh Negative individuals to confirm absence of Rh antigen or its variants
Histopathology
Receives and labels specimen for examination making sure that they are kept in the right preservative
