A FEW NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

I was proud to aid a struggling hobby toy manufacturer in restructuring their manufacturing/assembly process which enabled them to move the majority of their employee’s payroll to a lower rated classification resulting in considerable long-term savings. This required working closely with the WCIRB’s Policy Holder Ombudsman to sign off on the changes as construction progressed to ensure the appropriate physical separations were made while still allowing needed egress between departments where allowed in accordance to the Multiple Enterprise Rule under the California Unit Statistical Reporting Plan. This was significant accomplishment as this client is unique in that they are the only employer in California involved in this particular manufacturing and assembly process. Thus, it was new territory for all parties involved as there is no other insured employer in California with a similar operation to compare it to.

One of my greatest challenges was aiding a newly retained insured who were struggling with run off claims triggered by plant closures involving multiple expired high deductible plans that were severely cutting into their profitability. After an enormous effort, I was able to identify several cases that, in my opinion, could have been handled more aggressively by their insurance carrier. In persuading their defense counsel into pursuing additional discovery, we were able to secure favorable trial outcomes for several cases involving multiple jurisdictions that resulted in significant savings to this client.

I was able to convince a very reluctant National Insurance Carrier who had dismantled their once capable Loss Control Department into conducting multiple Industrial Hygiene services for an insured thus saving our client considerable expense. The studies performed identified the need for both Hearing Conservation Program as well as an Ergonomics program which were promptly instituted and aided in reducing their frequency.

I was also granted settlement authority from national carriers in which I screened any settlement offers or demands for several key accounts before any final action was taken.
