The objective of this system is to collect data from all Powertel Subsystems which include Voice Mail Systems, iSMSC, CMG-SMSC and VASP; and to generate Web based reports and graphs for Engineering and Marketing departments. The system consists of two parts: a) data retrieval and b) reporting. The data collection was performed on a Data Collection (DC) Server which is a Sun Enterprise Server with an Oracle 8i database. Data was loaded into the Oracle 8i db using SQL loader. Once captured, web-based reports and graphs were created and were accessible to authorized personnel with various levels of access privileges.
Responsibilities:
Involved in generating various reports and graphs, building the SQL queries, writing Stored Procedures, modifying existing Shell files to meet the client requirements. Reckitt & Colman, a Deutschland based company engaged in manufacturing of moulded Plastic furniture, was implementing BPCS 6.0.04 Client server version. Its business and operation was spread across over Europe. SSA (System Software Associates), Benelux was the principle consultant in this project and IBS was providing technical assistance. This involved studying the user requirement, understanding BPCS process, identification of modules for modification, development of technical specification, unit and system testing. Tasks involved programming, modifying existing programs according to the Conceptual Designs, which were developed to cater to the client’s Business requirements.
