EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
As a young man in the 80’s, I started out working apartment maintenance as an assistant doing minor work orders and painting. I completed college classes in sheet metal and electrical. I advanced from an assistant to Maintenance Tech II and moved to the Dallas area. I worked from doing make ready to Maintenance Supervisor for various Property Management companies in a three year period.
My responsibilities included preparing market ready apartments, which may include general or major repairs, and any necessary duties to provide our residents with that quality move in experience. Responded to resident requests in a timely manner and with a professional attitude. I was responsible for re-key and master keys locks as well as oversee and coordinate the workers who maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, ventilation and other building systems. Evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed. This included performing initial evaluations of building systems and distributing work assignments. Organize schedules, and assign work activity. Perform training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills. Additional responsibilities included developing and implementing maintenance procedures and maintaining personnel records.
I attended 11-years of seminary training while working apartment maintenance with a major in theology and a minor in computer science, graduating with my PhD in theology. I enjoy repairing and building things, but I advanced my education for personal spiritual reasons.
