Dear Human Resources,
I am interest in applying for position with your company. I graduated from Mars Hill College with a BA degree in Psychology. Since graduating from Mars Hill College, I have worked in a variety of fields including customer service, health care, mental health and social service. I am currently working as part time Dock Associate at Dillard’s. I am currently volunteering at the I Can House, and the Piedmont Down Syndrome Net Work.
While working at the Enrichment Center as a job coach, and as a Habitation Technician, (this is a person who works with clients a client one on one) and at HCR Manor Care as an Activities Assistant. My goal while working with clients and residents at both the Enrichment Center and at HCR Manor Care was to assist them in achieving goals and to mentor to clients and residents by forming trusting and respectful relationships with them.
In addition to my job experiences, I have also volunteered with many organizations which include Avon Lake Community Center, a community service organizations dedicated to addressing social service needs of people in the Avon Lake, Ohio Area, Piedmont Down Syndrome Net Work’s annual Buddy Walk, Accessibility Festival/ Serena’s Song, Lake Erie Nature and Science Center in Ohio and at Forsyth County Library in Winston Salem. The Accessibility Festival and Buddy Walk are an annual events, with the goal of the event is to help raise awareness of the needs and problems people with mental and physical challenged face and to help them find out about the available resources to help them. The Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network is an organization that goal to help support, programs and resources to families and individuals with Down Syndrome, and a raises awareness of needs and problems these families and individuals face. The I Can House has provides services, resources and programs to individuals with social, mental and physical challenges and their families
While volunteering at the Avon Lake Community Center, I helped managed the community “Jail-a-Thon”, a fund raising activity, and also participated in other fund raising activities and transported community residents to appointments. While volunteering at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center, I assisted staff setting up and running special events and programs, helped with fund raising and assisted with the centers Planetarium programs. As a past member of the Rocky River, Ohio Toast Master Club I served as the secretary / treasurer of club from 1998 to 2001.
While I volunteered at the Forsyth County Library I worked in the Humanities Department, Computer Lab, and Circulation section. My duties included assisting the library staff in helping patrons look up information and assisted them in locating books and other materials they needed.
In addition I also assisted the computer staff in running the computer lab. My duties in the computer lab included, opening and closing the lab, assisting patrons in using the computers, reporting problems with computers and monitoring the lab. I also volunteer with library’s annual Lanterns of Hope program, this is multicultural program that help celebrates and promotes understand among different cultures in the Winston Salem area.
I believe that my range of work and volunteer experiences would make me an asset to the staff at your company and would also be beneficial in helping your company
