WORK EXPERIENCE
Coop (Continuous Improvement) at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, INDIA May 2015 – Nov 2015
Collaborated for Wire Rod Mill department to study the working of shear pin and other safety set couplings on the production line
Executed lean tools (5S, Kaizen, 8D, 5Why’s, Cycle time reduction) and suggested continuous improvement ideas
Initiated an equal member of a 3-person team responsible for implementing continuous improvement project on Optimization of constraints in Wire Rod Mill department – resulting in savings of 2,07,20,000 INR/ month approximately
Proposed and Introduced a new age “Hydraulic Torque limiting Safety Couple” replacing the traditional shear pin couplings to reduce the breakdown period of the mill – resulting in slashing the replacement time of couplings by 70%
Increased the mill capacity utilization by 20% introducing the new age hydraulic torque limiting couple
Minimized the total cost lost due to production lag by 76% - equivalent to 51,80,900 INR/breakdown
Performed Overhauling of roll housings in finishing mill of wire rod mill, Visakhapatnam
Integrated with the logistics department and conducted a time and motion studies for a period of 15 days and suggested changes in the procedure.
Implemented replacement model technique to ensure that the damaged equipment is replaced with a suitable substitute of better usage there by saving about 1,50,000 INR/month
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Reduction of paste rejection in electrode plate production using SPC techniques Amar Raja Batteries India
Executed the DIMAC method and SPC techniques to identify and reduce the paste rejections
Identified the primary reasons for the paste rejection using pareto chart.
Brainstormed the possible solutions using techniques like DFMEA and compared it to the past data.
Minimized the rejections from 4700 ppm to 4000 ppm thereby saving around 100k$ per year.
Lean six sigma solutions for reducing process time Tilco manufacturing plant Houston
Executed lean six sigma techniques to reduce the overall process time.
Identified the reason for the delay using root cause analysis and narrowed them using pareto 80/20 rule.
Brainstormed possible solutions for the primary causes using 5 why analysis and correlation analysis.
Optimized the process time 67% in 2 months accounting to a savings of around $518,400 annually.
Configuration of a new plant using facility planning techniques OA metal fab MHI
Analyzed the existing facility and suggested possible changes using CRAFT technique.
Implemented the layout planning technique BLOCPLAN algorithm with adjacency based objective for constructing an optimized layout.
Developed a new layout in AUTOCAD which saves about 60 % of the cost involved in existing layout.
Incorporated the space required in future considering the current growth rate.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Secured first place in a designing event “MAGLEV” at TECHNOZION 2K15, a national level technical event at NIT Warangal
Awarded Nonresident scholarship for good academic standing from University of Houston.
