CO – CURRICULAR ACTIVITY

Successfully completed the Internship Training at BEML, Bangalore. During our 3rd year summer vacation from 10.07.2016 to 29.07.2016.

Industrial visits to West Coast Paper Mills Ltd., SUPA Hydro Power Plant, GERUSOPPA Hydro Power Plant, Goa Shipyard Ltd. & Mysore Sandal Soap Factory.

PROJECTS

Synthesis, Characterization and Performance of Calophyllum Biodiesel: Final Year Main-Project involved the extraction of the oil from Calophyllum seeds and its conversion into Biodiesel by Transesterification process. Various Properties of the biodiesel were determined experimentally. Performance of the Biodiesel was conducted on a twin Cylinder Diesel Engine and the obtained results were plotted against the standard baseline Diesel Test for comparison. Obtained results confirmed substantial increase in Volumetric and Brake Thermal efficiencies for the Biodiesel.

Design and Fabrication of Trolley with Tri-Star Wheel: During our Mini-Project we upgraded the conventional Trolley with Robert’s Tri-Star Wheel mechanism to overcome the difficulty of moving loaded trolleys over stairs. The Wheel design was inspired from the Stair Climbing robot. We worked on the design and made necessary calculations so as to fit on Trolley’s axle. We manufactured it by ourselves, made test runs on stairs with loads and it was successful.
