Airbnb
Project description:
The purpose of this study is to determine the potential profitability and risks associated with using Airbnb to leverage property to earn short-term income and/or long run returns from the home owners’ perspective. Our research utilized Airbnb listing data to explore the Airbnb marketplace in the city of Boston by coupling listing data with home values and rental prices from Zillow. Our research explored the different methods employed by property owners using Airbnb to generate income. Using qualitative and quantitative measures we explored the distinctions between using Airbnb as opposed to traditional long-term leasing. With respect to the Boston area, our study concluded that Airbnb is a risky investment but will give greater returns than conventional long-term leasing and can provide significant supplementary income in the short-term.
Technology and Skills:
Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Statistics and linear algebra, Data extraction, JMP, Web scraping
Elliot Healthcare
Project description:
Predicting Fall Index at Elliot group of hospitals, US
Often hospitals are imposed a penalty when a patient falls within the hospital environment. They need to understand what the trends are in the patients falling, which patients fall more often than others, to mitigate this. We aim at providing patterns in the falls so that hospitals can be pro-active in identifying the patients who are highly likely to fall and reducing their probability of falling.
Technology and Skills:
EPIC, Python, SQL, Tableau, Statistics, Data Analysis, Clustering
Darling Consulting Group
Project description:
Predicting pre-payment of loans for banks.
Since banks receive income from loans interests, pre-payment of a loan poses as a problem to banks. We aim at identifying the type of customers who are highly likely to pre-pay a loan.
Technology and Skills:
Python, SQL, Tableau, Statistics, Data Analysis, Clustering, Regression models
