PHAROS MARINE AUTOMATIC POWER, Houston, TX 2011 - PRESENT

Vice President of Operations – Responsible for Manufacturing, Purchasing, Receiving, Building Maintenance, Shipping, Quality, Warehousing and Inventory Control.
Assumed responsibility of the Engineering and R&D department to improve overall performance in project tasks.
Developed multiple purchasing, inventory, and manufacturing strategies to support a custom design environment for 85% of the product shipped while only having visibility of 60 days backlog; lead times of material were in excess of backlog.
Started review of slow-moving inventory resulting in the disposition of inventory which had not been used in at least 10 years plus forcing the obsolescence of product lines no longer generating revenue. First pass resulted in a $700K reduction in first year.
Instituted an MRP system in 3 months where one had never existed in the past 20 year history of the company. This required ensuring all requirements were met within the data base and the training of personnel who had never been exposed to or used an MRP system.
Created repetitive manufacturing environment for the few low mix, high volume products manufactured. This eliminated the creation and monitoring of Job Orders. This was accomplished through authoring multiple training manuals, personal updating of the data base and training of personnel since no skill set existed in the company.
Improved logistics coordination with Singapore and UK offices through establishment of program management process.

Corporate Quoting Manager – Responsible for providing all quotations for new and existing business for five sites located throughout the United States, and two international sites in Mexico and Malaysia.
Increased department productivity and quality by 50%. Developed training aids in all software for all new and current team members due to high rate of turnover within the department.
Developed automated processes for a very manual and archaic process which allowed the team to maintain the same throughput although new process steps increased 33%.
Conducted quarterly continuous process improvement reviews with the quoting team to eliminate outdated processes and institute new ones as needed.
Designed process to review significant material cost for each quote project, without increase in process throughput. This ensured best possible price to the customer and increased chances of winning the business.

Turned the Austin division from a loss of $350K to a $100K Profit in a 12-month period.
Stabilized work force through personal recruiting with no HR department while growing it from 22 personnel to 138 personnel.
Managed a growth rate of 200 systems processed per week to 3,000 systems per week with a staff having no formal management training. Developed 4 supervisors from the ranks to keep pace with this growth.
Reduced product return rate to less than industry average during this growth period while providing Dell Financial Services with this volume.
Results of the above listed improvements led to clearing a net profit of $250K per month.

Installed, developed, and implemented a manufacturing database in 3 months. Before this, spreadsheets had been used to manage the company for the past 10 years. Conducted all training on the use of this ERP system.
Reduced the material planning cycle by 90%.
Improved manufacturing cycle time from 10 days to 2 days on standard products while reducing inventory.
Conducted Cause and Effect analysis and general production training for the management team. This was significant since none of the management team had prior production experience.

All of the following were accomplished while maintaining a gross profit margin of 42% - 45% on all products.
Planned and executed the transition from $15 MM to $72 MM in shipments with 30-days-or-less backlog and no forecast.
Installed, developed and instituted manufacturing resource planning system in six months after previous attempts of others for two years.
Developed cycle counting process for the Stockroom. This resulted in a “no variance found” for the Stockroom during five consecutive annual audits by Ernst and Young.
Served on three member management team which, during a six month search, was responsible for the identification and implementation of a new 4GL data base suited to support company sales and manufacturing process. Transitioned everyone in the company to one integrated system.
Improved material procurement process to increase throughput of purchase orders, enabling the factory to function and maintain current inventory levels with only 30 days of sales backlog. Material lead times had an average 45 days. This was accomplished with no change in headcount.

Instituted Total Quality Control program for the factory, which improved first-pass yield of computer systems from 30% to 70%.
Established Sales Order Control organization, which verified all orders before being placed into work on the factory floor. This increased shipping by 20% .
Created Manufacturing Engineering department responsible for the verification of Bill of Materials for all assemblies. This improved customer satisfaction and inventory control.
Introduced and designed the basic format for a factory floor control system which eliminated the possibility of duplicate orders being built and saved twenty man-hours per day.
