WORK EXPERIENCE
Forensic Structural Engineer September 2017 – Present
Destek Engineering Houston, TX
Inspected homes and businesses damaged by Hurricane Harvey in Louisiana and Texas. Evaluated structural concerns, documented structural damage, and identified the probable cause of that damage. Wrote engineering reports for submittal to clients detailing the findings of the field investigation and suggesting repair options when needed.
Civil/ Structural Engineer June 2014 – March 2017
Engineers and Constructors International, Inc. Baton Rouge, LA
Served as lead civil engineer for activities in Louisiana. Oversaw a design team including Civil Designers and Engineer Interns.
Performed complete design of structural elements in support of High Pressure Piping operations servicing the Petrochemical Industry. Elements included pipe racks, specialized equipment supports, loading structures and associated foundations. Designed critical LDPE (Low Density Poly-Ethylene) structures, including dynamic loading analysis where required.
Civil/ Structural Engineer March 2014 – June 2014
Chicago Bridge & Ironwork (by Johnson Services Group) Baton Rouge, LA
Performed structural analysis of modular units for a nuclear power plant. Analyzed units to determine stress during lifting, rotation, shipping, and erection activities.
Created computer models as needed for modules using STAAD Pro. Models included standard structural steel members as well as customized steel plates.
Civil/ Structural/ Geotechnical Engineer August 2012 – March 2014
Ford, Bacon, and Davis Baton Rouge, LA
Served as in-house Geotechnical Engineer for FB&D, to provide rapid responses to geotechnical questions affecting design. Provided interpretations of historical geotechnical reports when no geotechnical firm is attached to the project, including calculating pile capacities, bearing capacities, and anticipated settlements. Prepared Requests for Proposals for distribution to clients and possible geotechnical consultants.
Performed civil engineering analysis, including cut/fill calculations, pavement recommendations, and hydrology calculations.
Performed Structural engineering analysis, including calculation of load states, seismic loads, wind loads and load combinations, design of reinforced concrete beams, slabs, and foundations, computer modeling and design of steel structures including buildings, racks, and industrial equipment supports.
Project Engineer I September 2008 – August 2010
Fugro Consultants Baton Rouge, LA
Performed slope stability analyses for major earthwork projects using Slope/W and the USACE Method of Planes (MOP).
Prepared 150-300 page major submissions detailing results of analyses.
Designed staged construction sequences with anticipated settlement and strength increases.
Performed pile analyses using GROUP and LPILE.
Coordinated multiple simultaneous pile load tests on sites with difficult access.
Installed and monitored geotechnical instrumentation, including: vibrating wire piezometers, inclinometers, pneumatic transducers, settlement monitoring points, and automated piezometric monitors.
Prepared geotechnical reports with foundation recommendations, bearing capacities, and expected settlements for projects including: petroleum pipeline installations, refinery flow equipment installations, military reserve centers, school assembly buildings, and other commercial buildings.
Coordinated utility clearances, laboratory testing, and drilling operations, including several large-scale operations with total budgets of over $1,000,000 for exploration and laboratory testing.
Carried out field supervision, quality control (QC), and logging of boreholes during operations.
Senior Staff Engineer July 2006 – July 2008
GFA International Fort Meyers, FL
Prepared geotechnical reports with foundation recommendations, bearing capacities, and expected settlements for projects including: house pads, commercial warehouses, retail structures, high rise hotels, condominiums, and medical office buildings.
Analyzed and prepared recommendations for driven piles, ACIP piles, and helical piles.
Provided pile load tests, pile installation monitoring services and prepared installation reports.
Obtained drilling permits and utility clearances.
Wrote proposals for marketing services after determining the scope of investigation, gathering client budget requirements, and designing a program.
Assisted with environmental engineering projects, including Phase I and Phase II ESA’s, natural attenuation monitoring plan, soil point source remediation, and groundwater sampling.
