Twenty Years Experience in Municipal Government
Policy Development
Developed a policy for the denial or cancellation of licences. Resulted in a standard procedure being followed with no civil actions being taken as a result of a denial or cancellation. Former Clerk stated, in a performance evaluation, that I was in the vanguard of updating by-laws to bring them in line with current legislation.
Judicial Relations
Researched and reported on a request for permission of a store to open under the former provisions of the Retail Business Holidays Act. Formulated a standard policy in keeping with court rulings.
Personnel Administration
Screened applications, interviewed, hired and did performance evaluations for each staff member. Evaluations were considered fair and helpful to the person evaluated.
Community Relations
Assessed the need for a handicapped accessible cab service. Resulted in handicapped service being set up.
Met with representative of Canadian National Railway on behalf of the Snowmobile
Association and the Town of Parry Sound regarding a crossing for snowmobiles. Resulted in obtaining an approved crossing with no responsibility on the town's liability
insurance.
