****-******* ******** ***********, ***********, NC

Senior Mechanical Engineer/Site Safety Coordinator

Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Advanced Process Systems group designing, fabricating, and installing compressed air and process piping skids, primarily to assist in the remediation of nuclear waste at various nuclear sites worldwide. I am responsible for all mechanical/structural aspects and costs of projects ranging from $50,000 up to $9 million.

Led three different project groups of as many as eight engineers, drafters/designers and interns starting from blank paper to delivering 39 complex piping systems to nuclear customers in the US and UK from 2008 to 2015.

Coordinated the fabrication of 42 piping skids across multiple departments (Mechanical/Electrical) since 2005. Working with vendors, customers and project management simultaneously to help facilitate the fabrication process ensuring project timelines and budget were kept on track.

Ensured all NQA-1 and ISO 9001 project quality assurance requirements were met on 12 different projects where equipment was delivered to nuclear facilities since 2005. This included writing detailed fabrication specifications, collecting all requisite data from suppliers throughout fabrication and passing it along to the customer to maintain quality assurance standards.

Used CAEPipe piping analysis software since 2007 to analyze the design of over 40 piping systems to guarantee compliance with applicable codes and standards, both domestic and foreign. Typically, ASME B31.3 and ASME B&PVC Section VIII. This analysis work included the preparation and review of an NQA-1 Safety Related analysis of a piping system that was delivered to a nuclear facility in the US.

Wrote original documentation for use by the Advance Process System group, specifically purchasing requirements and procedures, receipt inspection procedures, an AutoCAD designing and drafting standard, and generic fabrication specifications for piping installations.

Other job duties include:

Providing cost estimates for mechanical and structural equipment as well as fabrication duration estimates and engineering hours, then writing/reviewing any descriptions of the mechanical equipment for the proposals.

Meeting with customers during the initial bidding and early contract stages (kickoff meetings etc.) to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and will be met.

Designing and providing calculations on compressed air piping systems to ensure adequate compressed air feed to process systems.

Utilizing 3D AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Plant to produce fabrication drawings for mechanical items (Gears, piping systems, braces, etc.)

Detailing and finalizing process and instrumentation requirements and ensuring all P&IDs are up to date with the correct information.

Overseeing the onsite installation and start-up of multiple systems, as well as training the end-user onsite to use the equipment.

Preparing detailed reports for submittal to the customers upon project completion.

I have also been the Site Safety Coordinator for the NuVision facility in Mooresville, NC since 2005 which includes the following:

Preparing and maintaining the OSHA 300 logs each year and ensuring they are posted in compliance with company and OSHA requirements.

Maintaining and ensuring PPE is available to customers and vendors that may be onsite.

Organizing safety meetings and producing original safety presentations for company-wide use.

Providing initial health and safety training for new employees at the Mooresville facility in order to comply with the NuVision Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Manual.

Conducting monthly safety inspections, and documenting the inspections in order to comply with company health and safety goals.

Created an onsite training program in 2011 with a checklist and signoff sheet for visitors to ensure anyone at the facility for short periods of time are aware of any potential safety issues and whether they are to be continuously escorted or not.

Wrote a new section for the NuVision HS&E Manual in 2006 detailing electrical safety requirements for the company. Wrote another section for the HS&E Manual in 2012 related to customer access of NuVision facilities and one section related to daily shop meetings. This included checklists and signoff sheets for the daily shop safety meetings.

This included studying housings and bearing dynamics during customer applications.

1995-1996 Bechtel Savannah River Inc., Aiken, SC
