- M.M.R.M.A. (Michigan Municipal Risk Management Association) Experience: As Chief Deputy, my current responsibilities account for the overwatch of the Sheriff’s Office budget, which is 40% of the County’s entire budget, approximately $17 Million per fiscal year. Within the daily operations, there are multiple facets of the budget/finance, which include seamless function of a 24/7 operation of two correctional facilities, over 150 employees, administrative services, and a fully operational vehicle fleet of over 100. Working directly with the Sheriff, the Chief Deputy is in charge of administering policy and oversight of all training and grants for the entire Sheriff’s Office staff. My additional duties include working on labor negotiations with union collective bargaining agreements, employment recruiting, hiring and discipline. Working directly with fifteen township boards with contracting police services. Furthermore, I command Sheriff’s Office specialized units; SWAT Team, Marine Unit, and Dive Team. Through my career, I have commanded and worked in the detective bureau, investigating all aspects of criminal activity, up to and including suspicious deaths and homicides.
