PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

NSA Official Aiken SC 6/14/2012 – present

Performing official duties at horse racing (Race Meets) for the NSA (National Steeplechase Association) at various locations.

Have worked as an official for the NSA as a Safety Steward, Horse Identifier, Assistant Starter and Patrol Judge for the past ten years. These functions are on weekends.

Security and Safety Official

Employed to oversee professional security, safety and Technical Oversight at this major equine event. This includes identification per each and every individual and horse entering the stable area (Federals Equine International, FEI). This is conducted in the quarantine area also by observing everyone and anything in administration of feed, water, medicinal care and cleaning of stalls. Everyone must provide proper passes when checking in and out of the area.

Project conducted in response to the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Protection of the estuaries and tidal flats of Marsh Island within the Vermillion Bay and other areas of St. Mary’s Parish, LA. Meetings every morning to present daily Health and Safety protocol to clients and employees, Safety Inspections with captains of all boats used for deployment and installation of booms, buoys and anchors; documenting the number of boom sections, their length, amount of anchors used, the difference in weight, and the number of buoys. Drawings of the positioning of the booms deployed in reference to the designated locations, existing coordinates, geography and delineation of each secured estuary. Daily Field notes/drawings, assessments and documents presented to office staff.

Determining soil compaction compatibility for support in construction.

Making observations, specifications, and following procedures for documentation of field activities and chain of custody for preserved samples. Performed work that included soil recovery via hand augering and drilling at WSRS, the Allied Industrial Park in Macon, GA and Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, SC. Performed interpretations of CPT and API logs (Schlumberger) and recovery of soil samples to determine hydrologic characteristics. Slope Stability and Soil Liquefaction assessments; e.g. occurrence, effects (quicksand, quick clay, and turbidite units etc.) regarding effective stress/shear strength. Lab Assistant; Geology, Geotechnical Engineering. Conducted slabbing and trimming of basement core samples from Triassic basin and Paleozoic meta-igneous rocks recovered beneath updip Atlantic Coastal Plain. Produced whole rock powders using WC and alumina ring mills of the above as part of a comprehensive basement study focusing on structure and Tertiary fault reactivation in the updip coastal plain beneath a federal nuclear reservation (Savannah River Site).
