EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

Aug. 1994 – Nov. 2016 SunGard/FIS, Birmingham, AL.

Nov. 2015 – Nov. 2016 Development Engineer – FIS Omni, Birmingham, AL

Jan. 2009 – Nov. 2015 Development Engineer – SunGard Omni, Birmingham, AL. I continued as the primary Dben and Annuity programmer as well as additional parts of the system after an office reorganization. Continued to support the core system on MVS mainframe, PC and UNIX systems. We moved to JIRA for our defect tracking and I added new views and gadgets in JIRA to view defect resolution for specific projects. Help to develop the JIRA workflow for the various defect types. Also worked with SQL queries and embedding them as part of the evolution of our RDB offering. Trained and reviewed work of a new offshore resource for about 5 years including weekly video chats. Took courses in java, C and C++. Continued to write technical specifications for approved enhancements. Reviewed code of other programmers on areas that I was the expert on, as well as reviewing some of the code programmed by our architect, who is our primary code reviewer. Also performed some professional services assignments which uses our homegrown OmniScript scripting language to perform custom client tasks. This included both backend reports and data collection for our new browser based front end product.

Nov. 2000 – Dec. 2008 Systems Analysis/Program Manager OmniDben and Annuity – SunGard Employee Benefit Systems, Birmingham, AL. Continued to support the core system on MVS mainframe, PC and UNIX systems. In addition to programming I also performed code review for contract and internal programmers for the Dben and Annuity systems. Dben was an existing add-on product developed on an older version of the system so the initial effort was to update to the new more robust version of the system. Regularly met with the product manager and lead business analyst to determine the road map for system improvements for both regulatory changes and attracting new clients. Wrote technical specification for approved enhancements. I also coordinated with other system managers on the parts of the system that were shared to ensure overall product integrity.

Aug. 1994 - Nov. 2000 Development Programmer, SunGard Employee Benefit Systems, Birmingham, AL. The Omni system is written primarily in COBOL. Our original development platform was MVS but we converted to a Windows development platform using the MicroFocus compiler. The system is also ported to MVS, UNIX and AS/400 platforms. The original GUI front end was written in C++. My main work is as a COBOL programmer. During this time I was part of the team that developed the OmnniAnnuity system and became the lead Loan programmer. I also took the responsibility as the AS/400 expert, overseeing OS upgrades and site installations.

May 1989 - Jan. 1994 Air Force, Montgomery, AL.

Jan. 1993 - Jan. 1994 MicroBAS, Montgomery, AL. MicroBAS(Micro Budget Automated System) is a PC based system, written in Clipper. It is used world wide by Air Force base level budget offices and resource advisors. As part of my duties I was the ranking military programmer with two people under me, and reported directly to the lead programmer. I also continued as the division and section representative to DMRD 924 and 910, regionalization and capitalization initiatives. This involved attending technical and functional meetings and assessing the technical and functional impact these programs would have on the existing systems and also future plans for the system. I also initiated the redesign of the systems primary and secondary interfaces. This redesign improved the amount of time the user spends pulling the interface files down from the mainframe as well as obtaining additional information. Finally, I gathered information and wrote technical specifications for a new version of MicroBAS that would work for additional Department of Defense agencies.

Sep. 1990 - Dec 1992 BBAS/COOF MAPPER coordinator, Montgomery, AL. BBAS(Base Budget Automated System) was the base level budget system that was written in MAPPER and run on the COOF(Comptroller Office of the Future) machine. My primary duties were maintaining and troubleshooting problems for the development system as well as the MAPPER systems at 126 sites world wide. I was also responsible for maintaining the MAPPER runs used by the field to perform coordinator duties such as adding user-ids, setting up work areas, and performing regular backups. I also wrote runs and implementation procedures for MAPPER upgrade from level 33 to level 35 as well as the migration from the COOF 2200/200 to the SBLC(Standard Base Level Computer) 2200/400, UNISYS Systems. I served as the BBAS release control monitor and as the configuration control monitor. I was appointed division and section representative to DMRD 924 and 910, regionalization and capitalization initiatives. This involved attending technical and functional meetings and assessing the technical and functional impact these programs would have on the existing systems and also future plans for the system. I was also the primary MAPPER tester for the SB4 executive software upgrade for the Air Force. This involved migrating existing software to the SB4 platform and performing MAPPER and application tests of all functions. As the most knowledgeable MAPPER person, I also served as the primary trainer for other BBAS programmers.

May 1989 - Sep. 1990 CBAS(Command Budget Automated System), Montgomery, AL. CBAS is the command level budget automated system written in MAPPER. I was the junior programmer of a three person team that designed, coded and tested the new data base retrieval subsystem for CBAS. This involved writing COBOL programs that generated QLP (a UNISYS query language) code and then did further formatting of the QLP reports based on the users wishes. The user interface was written in MAPPER. In addition to the every day runs, I also wrote maintenance and implementation runs and programs.
