Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the reliable, efficient, dependable, economic and safe operations of generating unit and its auxiliaries.

Operates, monitor and controls the Gas Turbine Generator Simple Cycle Plant from the central control room through Digital Control System (Emerson Ovation WIN 3.5).

Synchronize the Gas Turbine Generator set to the Meralco Grid.

Plans and coordinate with client National Grid Corporation System Operator and Traders plant load schedule to meet demands during daily operations, system outages, repairs and importing and exporting of power.

Adjust load of generating units as requested by the System Operator of National Control Center in accordance with forecast generation schedule or when there is new and unforeseen power demands.

Ensure that routine jobs are performed during the shift.

Performs routine change-over of auxiliary equipment, carries out surveillance monitoring and reports any discrepancy to the Shift Supervisor.

Analyzes abnormal plant condition and initiate immediate corrective action.

Assist and coordinate to shift supervisor the issuance of Permit for Works and Work Orders to every concerned departments.

Completes and maintains station record of all significant events such as failed starts, incident reports, and logs midnight daily meters reading.

Reviews CCR, Plant Operator’s and Shift Supervisor’s logbook to update on previous shift’s plant status.

Prepare and submit Daily and Monthly Fuel Inventories.

Respond to the emergencies as Central Command Coordinator as designated in Emergency Response Plan. Seeks and mobilizes outside help from Local Government Fire Department.

Promotes health and safety awareness and work practices.

Turn-over to and/or informs co-shifters all about activities during the shift tenure.

Complies with all company policies and performs good housekeeping.

Performs other related that maybe assigned by Immediate Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the start- up, operation and shutdown of Gas Turbine Generator, Steam Turbine Generator, Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Water Treatment Plant, Compressed Air Plant,Fuel Oil Treatment Plant, and Chlorination Plant in accordance with company work instruction.

Monitors operating parameters of Gas Turbine Generator, Heat Recovery Steam Generator and Steam Turbine Generator.

Carry out regular plant routines and highlight any discrepancies to the Sr. Shift Engineer.

Inform and record in logbook all activities, observations, instructions received, plans and programs relevant to plant operation.

Checks actual operating parameters of running equipment to ensure that all are within control limit.

Performs test running of pumps, motors and other equipment for preventive maintenance test works.

Maintains and check-up lubrications of equipment and ensure that power plant equipment and auxiliaries are in good and efficient working conditions

Performs isolation and de-isolation works for permit to work order for major equipment, auxiliaries and other system prior to repair for preventive maintenance.

Carry out housekeeping within area of responsibility.

Participates in the conduct of the Accident Prevention Tools (Safety Index) of the Department and other safety activities.
