Dir. of Marketing Services & Division Compliance Officer
Templeton Portfolio Advisory, a Division of Franklin/Templeton Resources, Inc. Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA June 1988 to December 1999
Responsibilities
After three years in the Ft. Lauderdale FL office, was sent to Carmel CA to help set up the marketing division of the new wrap fee program to be offered by Templeton Portfolio Advisory. My responsibilities started with the creation of jobs, writing job descriptions and hiring and supervising personnel who performed the various positions required to handle marketing and account services for our client base. Initially, I coordinated road shows and seminars for the Sr. Executives and Portfolio Managers, which included hotel & travel arrangements, packaging and delivery of handouts and slide shows, and sending invitations, as well as tracking RSVPs and responding to client questions (fighting fires during a bad market).
Accomplishments
This was a mammoth feat, as within three years, we grew from two employees to 50, and increased assets from $0 to over $2 Billion. We focused on excellent client servicing to both investment advisers and their clients. I created a client database to service the clients, and set up customized client communications and reporting. We built our quarterly reports in-office, and successfully distributed them to over 1,200 clients and their advisers. I also obtained various NASD licenses required for this position: NASD Series 7, 24, 65, 66 & 63.
