PROJECTS

Machine Learning & Statistical Inference

Implemented different inference algorithms in MATLAB, including but not limited to Metropolis Hastings, Gibbs Sampling, and Hamiltonian Monte Carlo, on the Maximum Likelihood function of Logistic Regression.

Implemented the Newton-Raphson optimization algorithm on the log partial likelihood of the proportional hazards regression using time to event data in R.

Analyzed the efficacy of Stochastic Gradient Descent compared to Batch Gradient Descent.

Implemented the Isomap algorithm on a data set that is more accurately represented by a curved Manifold vs a Euclidean one. Biostatistics & Scientific Inference.

Analyzed the Time Trajectories of certain biochemical (Beta Carotene and Vitamin E) compound concentration in serum using ANOVA, linear mixed models, comparison of confidence bands surrounding the fitted time paths of the treatment clusters, and polynomial spline interpolation for more accurate utilization of the mean function.

Quantified the changing association between salivary cortisol levels and fetal weight in expecting mothers over time as represented by gestational age. Linear Mixed Models were used to account for longitudinal between patient variation.

Quantified the expected failure rate of dialysis devices within ESRD patients via Negative Binomial regression in light of systematic over-dispersion of variance. Operationalization of vein size was taken into consideration to account for confounding effects and effect modification.

Pure Mathematics, Physics, & Finance

Represented prime decompositions of rational numbers as elements on a Module with basis isomorphic to the primes. The notion of disparity between encodings is captured geometrically within the abstract structure of a high dimensional Lattice using the Manhattan metric and was implemented in R. Also, the Topological structure was investigated.

Analyzed the influence of high velocity launches as initial conditions on ensuing Time Evolution of flight energy and various astrophysical trajectories (elliptical, hyperbolic etc.) using curvilinear coordinates, phase space/numerical analysis, including a derivation of the Hamiltonian from differential equations representing the laws of mechanics. (Highest Score on this paper)

C++ program built in an Object-Oriented fashion for constructing Amortization Schedules based on user input. The Newton- Raphson algorithm was implemented to find convergent solutions to financial equations. SKILLS

Knowledge: STATS: Frequentist & Bayesian, Clinical Trials, Data Mining, and Manifold Learning. MATH/CS: Data Structures

& Algorithms, OOP, Abstract & Linear Algebra, Topology, Real & Complex Analysis, and Convex Optimization.

Programming Languages: R, Python, MATLAB, C++, and working knowledge of SQL and JAVA.

Miscellaneous: High Score on the Actuarial probability exam. Over 7 years of experience tutoring higher mathematics.
