Leadership of the PET, Fibers and Utilities Operations Organization. Responsible for P&L and both continuous and batch manufacturing operations with a total budget of $29 Million (Fix and Variable Cost) and 300 employees including 13 direct reports. Established the Acquisition of the Mexican business from Eastman Chemicals in 2007.
HSE Processes - Achieved 600 days without OSHA recordable accidents by implementing a safety base behavior audit program and building a culture of accountability and line ownership for safety.
Project Management - Led manufacturing project resulting in 10% capacity increase within expected budget, timeframe and accident free. Profits were rise by $4 Million USD
Financial / P&L - Improved site financial performance: enhancing raw material yields by $5 Million USD, eliminating key sources of quality variation resulting in 2% waste reduction. Management of Change properly reflected on updated operational procedures, personnel training and key documentation.
HSE Processes – Led an Environmental Capital Key Initiative of $0.8 Million USD: By eliminating sources of unexpected utility operations downtime and Environmental issues by improving the operation and maintenance reliability of critical equipment to meet standards and norms. This initiative resulted in Zero environmental issues and Zero unexpected downtime events.
Change Leadership – Developed and communicated an improvement plan based on TQM principles to all levels of the organization to identify the cultural gaps, adequate metrics, initiatives, priorities, and resources. Provided leadership and management to the business and fully responsible for the day to day Operations, Technical, Financial, P&L, Maintenance and Engineering, HR, IT, SHE, QA&QC, and Patrimonial Security. Focused on developing programs that deliver efficiencies while playing a leading role in the mobilization, development and implementation of robust operational processes. Total budget of $18.5 Million USD (Fix and Variable Costs)
Mergers and Acquisitions – Site M&A Leader in the acquisition process of the PET Mexican business by DAK Americas LLC from Eastman Chemical Company during 2007. Successfully merging the different operational cultures, including an aggressive headcount reduction of 20% and salary labor rate of 30%.
Global Manufacturing Interaction - Outstanding Operational Performance recognized by upper management for running the benchmark operations among the 5 PET DAK sites. Safety (0 OSHA recordable), Product Quality and Consistency (IV ppk > 1.3), Energy Consumption Optimization. Best practices/principles were deployed across all DAK PET sites.
Financial / P&L - Developed and Executed a $2.5 Million USD Capital Project to Increase Capacity by 10%. Profits were improved by $3.4 Million USD. Accidents Free, within Budget, On Time Project Execution and No Customer impact due to Product performance.
Customer Focus - Led a cross functional team involving customer, carrier and DAK personnel to eliminate a bottle performance problem reported by a critical customer. As a result, defects drastically dropped by 90%, PET Product performance improved and the Customer Material Handling Practices were enhanced.
Strategy Development - Led the In-House Waste Recycling Initiative to improve by 2% the Raw Materials yields with an outcome of $3.2 Million USD.

Management responsibility for all functions of a PET manufacturing facility with 120 employees, including 10 direct reports and a total budget of $22.4 Million USD.
Safety Improvement - Achievement of a worldwide record level after achieving 12 years without OSHA Recordable Lost Time accidents. This outstanding performance was recognized by the National Association of Chemical Industries, the Veracruz Estate Association of Industries, Local Government and National Press.
Award Winning - Recognized by the National Association of Chemical Industries and by the Veracruz State Association of Industries as the Safest Plant Operation for several consecutive years. The Site obtained the Certification as Clean Industry Award in 2000 from the National Environment Agency.
Customer Focus - Reduced Customer Complaints by 90% ($2 Million USD) after eliminating metal product contamination sources. This project integrated Customer, Carrier, and Eastman Personnel. Customer satisfaction increased and the relationship was strengthened.
Financial / P&L - Improved Profits by $26.0 Million USD after Increasing Production Capacity with minimal capital investment. This methodology was known as “Push, Learn, Fix and Hold”. New operation conditions were developed that required procedures updates and personnel training.
New Products - Successfully launched two new PET resins using an innovated formula of reheat technology within the Mexican market. As a result, earnings improved by $2 Million USD due to market consolidation.
Community Relations - Positively impacted the Community by being an active member of United Way as examples: Implemented the program “Teach them how to fish”, by creating two shops so women could learn the skills of Sewing, Bakery and Cooking. Improved local elementary schools’ conditions by painting, upgrading electrical wiring, replacing furniture, etc.
Strategy Development - Developed and implemented the Site Restructuring Plan combined with the Cost Reduction Initiative and the Reliability Centered Maintenance culture that resulted in $8 Million USD savings. This initiative set as the Conversion Cost Benchmark among the five PET Eastman operations.
Operations Manager Cosoleacaque, Veracruz (Mexico Facility) 1999 – 2001
Responsible for the day to day operations. Drove operational improvements, maximizing the value of the asset base while ensuring a tight control on operational costs. Monitored and continually improved standards of performance and quality within the operation including the Production, Materials Handling and Maintenance functions.
Organization Development - Designed and Implemented the Operations Functional Plan based on the Total Quality Philosophy that included Strategies that covered the following Key Areas: HSE, Financial, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Employees and Community.
Safety Improvement - Achieved 7 years without OSHA recordable accidents and a performance level better than industry standards after implementing the STOP and Take Two programs at the site.
Financial – Improved Site Cost Performance by $6 Million USD after improving Raw Materials Yields in 6% and enhancement of Critical Operational Processes.
Product Development – Successful launching of a New PET Resin (IPA based) in the Mexican market to consolidate our leadership position and increased profits by $3 Million USD. There was no negative impact with our customer nor performing issues with their customers.
Project Management- On time, within budget and accident free execution of the $2.0 Million USD Site Laboratory and Cafeteria Project. No customer disruptions during the project execution. Both projects improved the Company Credibility and Image in front of Customers and Employees.
