SONY Corporation, June’04 to Date: Information Technology Manager/Sr. Project Manager

Management Responsibilities included:

Currently a Project Manager on Global Platform services (GPS). – The ERP software functionality built covers Order entry system, inventory allocation module, pricing -invoicing, Claims, cash collections & Receivables, procurement and payable. This was a new business opportunity for SONY, to offer services to existing and new customers. I headed the project team responsible for IT systems– developed design documents, coordinated software delivery with offshore technical teams, create test cases/plans (Order processing, inventory, pricing, Invoicing, claims, EDI), conduct and participate in UAT testing, publish daily scorecards and manage the overall health of the project. Once the software project was implemented, I was able to achieve on-boarding of several new entertainment companies on the new SONY platform (GPS) to support their core businesses. I was able to achieve on time and under budget for these projects too.

Project manager for major predictive analysis project for a large studio, that optimized all aspects retail demand chain with a mission to sense demand, stock smart, sell more and see everything using Data science and Advanced Analytics. Working closely with our SaaS business partner to deliver superior demand forecasting, perpetual inventory management and assortment optimization and many more algorithms built by our data scientists.

Project Manager for large scale ERP implementation – Technical team leader and project manager (PMO) to re-platform older JD Edwards ERP system to new Oracle ERP System. The systems included an order to cash distribution and supply chain system for Sony Music, which included master data, retailer EDI, order management, inventory management, returns, retailer pricing/billing, and integration (150 interfaces) into Sony Music’s SAP financial system as well as SONY warehouse management systems (WMS). I successfully managed business teams to create BRD documents, create test plans, execute UAT and publish daily score cards to project steering committee. As an IT manager I was able to achieve delivery of software fixes and changes and coordinate testing with testers as well as the offshore and on-site programming teams. Managed the complete knowledge transfer and trained the team with thorough technical and business knowledge. This project included a Full life cycle project management, the development of new distribution functionality, development of an E-business B2B distribution solution. Administrative duties included staff time management and budget monitoring.

Oversee, maintain and implement Change Management process, ensuring policy/processes are SOX compliance, efficient workflow and accurate documentation. Manage the escalation of production issues to ensure timely attention to and resolution of system issues and outages, both during business hours and after-hours. Manage outsourced vendor relationship for day to day operations, business software change requests and escalation of issues. Manage and maintain application, contact and support information for all systems, applications and services supported by the department.

Systems solutions architect for the SONY Global Platform services (GPS). Designed, developed, and implemented the financial application systems (OMS, CMS) supporting retailer pricing, campaigns & deals, invoicing & billing and retailer claims modules for the SONY GPS. Involved in creating several Business requirement documents (BRD), extensive UAT testing-including test cases, data sets and running SQL queries to identify system issues and provide remedies.

Designed, developed and implemented the SONY warehouse returns processing system (RPM). This product was built with partnership of a software vendor. This includes a Returns entry, Returns processing, returns stock management, returns pricing and credit modules. We have since on-boarded several distribution customers on this platform.

Primary Relationship/Account Manager for Sony Music, managing the day to day IT systems work load. Administrative duties included managing the offshore technical teams, prioritizing business change requests.

Sony Music, NY: June’97 to May’2004: Information Technology Manager

Managed IT Department day-to-day Applications, support and staff. Managed large scale company projects.

Management Responsibilities included:

Manage client relationship and supervise staff, including onsite and offshore resources analysts. Manage several major IT projects, run steering committee meetings, produce project plans and track project progress and budgets.

Worked on the Columbia Tri-Star Home Entertainment Project-Returns/reverse Logistics Implementation – as principal Project Manager

Technical and project lead for implementing the new purchasing module for Sony PlayStations from Japan. This project involved a new system design, so as to incorporate Sony Japan’s shipping information to be translated to the GDS/JD Edwards purchasing information to and fro. It consisted of complete order life cycle, from order entry, purchasing, inventory management, warehouse activities (receiving) and back. This project also involved project planning, project implementation and cutover planning. I was the team leader for the design, analysis and implementation team.

Designed and implemented a new business model for third party manufacturing (Deluxe/Cinram). I had documented the high-level business design of the various application systems and their respective interfaces. Also, provide the technical design and specifications of all the interfaces relating to GDS/JD Edwards. Prepare the project plan and implement the plan. The project would involve 3 different technical teams. Technical meetings and work plans to be conducted. Project status to be reported to steering committee

Worked as project leader for the returns module of the Global Distribution System (GDS/JD Edwards). Job responsibilities included leading a team of Price Waterhouse Consultants and User co-ordination from various warehouse sites. Implementation and development of the returns system using J D EDWARDS WORLD CASE generator were the key areas where I was involved. Conducted User training in all the Distribution Centers. Involves some traveling to other DC’s.

Manager and primary support of the RETURNS ADMINISTRATION module of GDS /JD Edwards involved integrating an article (CD’s, Cassettes et.) Sorting machine with the AS/400-GDS/JD Edwards. Interfaces were build using JDE-RPG Case tools. A return entry module, inquiry module and several reports were created using JDE-RPG Case tools, to support the returns system in its entirety.

A daily auditing/balancing system was generated for the transaction-based interface using MS Excel 5.0. Several reports were created to support the balancing requirements. Responsibilities included analyzing the out of balance issues and reasoning with the Users involved. Also, maintaining and upgrading the system as per new business requirements. Also, analyzed the requirements of a new company merger into GDS and implemented the required system modifications

Working as Team leader for ORACLE manufacturing integration into GDS/JD Edwards for Purchase Order Module. The job responsibilities include project management, resource and time management. Creation of the project work plan and assigning and monitoring tasks assigned to the team. There are 3 senior analysts working on my project plus myself as the team lead. The project involves interfacing the new Manufacturing system’s central purchasing system for finished goods and artwork to the Inventory management and Inventory accounting systems on GDS.

Responsible for the inventory balance update module. This module is responsible to update all inventory transactions, including moves, issues, tallies, component consumption, interplant transfers etc. I am responsible for designing and implementing all updates to the Article balance files, ledger files etc. This impacts the inventory management finished goods scheduling system. This involved getting familiarized and rolling in no time with the inventory management and inventory accounting modules of GDS/JD Edwards. Working with users in other DC’s and gathering process information, creating the high level conceptual design, creating the detail design specifications so as to help in generating the program specifications were some of the tasks performed by myself.

YASUDA FIRE & MARINE INSURANCE, NY, October’93 to June’97:

Sr. Systems Analyst

Working at this location as Sr. SYSTEMS ANALYST. This Client is in the Business of Writing property & Casualty risks. Worked here on primarily the Insurance application called “AIS”. I worked on the Claims, Ocean Marine Insurance, State & Bureau Data/Report requests, Underwriting, Billing & Accounting Modules.

Management Responsibilities included:

Year 2000 Conversion: This was a massive scale project, involving huge manpower management, change management, new tools selection, Systems analysis, and Technical know-how and Y2K knowledge implementation.

Claims Module: Several major modifications and new developments were carried out in an attempt to enhance/Change business. Independently designed / developed a Claim Examiner daily entry Note Pad; where an examiner could enter the history of follow-up on any Claim being processed. This included enhanced security for confidential information too. The Claims entry System was independently enhanced/maintained by me. Implemented object reuse as much as possible. This included applications using Embedded SQL/400.

State/Bureau Data Requests: New application designed and developed entirely by me. Many Programs, Reports, work files, Menus were designed and implemented. This System eased a lot of constant user requests and the users could handle most of requests on their own. Used PC support and MS Access to download data for Bureau requests.

Annual Verification report: This would identify the data sent to Insurance bureaus and the data excluded from the submission, by reasoning the differences and finally reconciling with the company PG14 Accounting statement. This involved extensive research, analysis and business know-how in order to come up with the justified results. Few new programs (RPG), new work files, reports etc. were created to reach the objective.

Ocean Marine Insurance: Designed and maintained several Entry, Check Issue, Report programs for a new business for Overseas Travelers Accident Insurance, General Liability and Ocean Cargo Claims.

Yasuda Claims Services: Project leader for this subsidiary of Yasuda Tokyo, handling Overseas Travelers accident insurance (OTAI) and Product liability Claims.

This was a permanent position as Programmer and was gradually promoted as DB Administrator. Worked on all major disciplines of Automotive Manufacturing industry related to computer Applications.
