Position Held: Director of Program Management

Managed the definition and development of prototype desktop and enterprise-class networked data storage system products for the media and entertainment industries for a new start-up organization.

2013 to January 2016 – VIZIO, Inc., Irvine, CA

Position Held: Director of Software Program Management

Managed the development of the company’s next-generation High-Definition and Ultra-High-Definition Smart-TV platform. Coordinated the activities of multiple global development partners, technology contributors and video content providers (including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Xumo). More recently, collaborated with Google on the integration of the Google ChromeCAST technology into the Smart TV platform. Successfully delivered all systems to all manufacturing partners in preparation for Mass Production.

2011 to 2013 – Active Storage, Inc., Torrance, CA

Position Held: Director of Program Management & Quality Assurance

Managed and coordinated all hardware and software development programs for a range of Fibre Channel RAID storage systems, including the successful launch of two next-generation products. Served as the primary technical liaison with the hardware and firmware development center in Taiwan, including nightly conference calls and multiple on-site visits to drive all development activities to closure. Also defined, implemented and executed all Design Validation and Manufacturing Production testing activities for all products, which improved product reliability and reduced customer support calls and field replacement costs by at approximately 40%.

2007 to 2011 – iStor Networks, Inc., Irvine, CA

Position Held: Director of Program Management

Managed all hardware and software development programs for a range of iSCSI-based network storage systems. Defined and implemented a formal Product Development Process. After several significant reductions in force, I also assumed responsibility for Customer Technical Support, preparing all end-user documentation, maintaining the corporate website and serving as Acting Manager for the Design Validation (System Testing) Group, managed the automated nightly software build system, and assisted the Sales and Marketing staff with customer demonstrations and other pre-sales support activities.

2005 to 2007 – Silicon Image, Inc., Storage Systems Division, Irvine, CA

Position Held: Senior Program Manager

Defined and documented the software development process for the Storage Systems business unit. Created automated tools for tracking and scheduling new products and enhancements to existing products. Developed budget and resource allocation planning tools. Managed several major storage system product development projects (including "System-on-a-Chip" products) and brought them to successful completion.

2000 to 2005 - Quantum Corporation, Storage Systems Group, Irvine, CA

Position Held: Senior Program Manager

Managed the definition, development and productization of integrated hardware and software data protection solutions. Collaborated with customers and the Sales/Marketing departments to define technical product requirements, and led a cross-functional team through all phases of product development, deployment and support. Reported program status to the Executive Staff, including issues, impact assessment and mitigation plans. Defined, implemented and coordinated all product development and support activities for a network-attached tape library using Gigabit Ethernet and Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) in partnership with Network Appliance, Inc. Conceived, inspired and led all internal development and external industry-event activities for the storage industry’s first successful prototype iSCSI implementation in an automated tape library using Gigabit Ethernet technology, resulting in significant recognition for the company as a leader in this area. Managed the software development staff and led the cross-functional team for launching a disk-based enhanced backup solution (emulating a tape library using standard server-class systems with RAID storage arrays) in less than five months, which opened several new business opportunities for Quantum and helped exceed revenue targets for the first fiscal quarter.

1994 to 2000 - Canon Information Systems, Inc., Irvine, CA

Position Held: Senior Product Manager

Defined and managed all software connectivity solutions for all of Canon's printers, digital copiers and multi-function FAX machine product lines. Serve as the primary liaison with Canon’s headquarters in Japan for those development programs.

1980 to 1994 – California Computer Products, Inc. (CalComp), Anaheim, CA

Positions Held:

1989 to 1994: Manager of Connectivity Marketing - Computer Graphics Division

Defined, developed and deployed all in-house connectivity solutions for all of CalComp's printer and plotter product lines. Established cooperative relationships with third-party hardware and software developers and assisting them in supporting the company's products through software device drivers. Tracked significant business activities and trends within the computer industry and advising the product development business units as new technologies emerge. Developed specific software connectivity solutions for Sun Microsystems “NeWSprint” and Silicon Graphics “Impressario” prining architectures. Served as Product Manager for the development and launch of an OEM printer product line in a joint venture between CalComp and Sun Microsystems direct marketing organization ("SunExpress")

Developed and delivered technical training classes for field and in-house technical sales and customer support personnel.

1988 to 1989: Senior Technical Support Specialist - Customer Service Division

Provided customer and internal technical support and training for a UNIX-based Computer Aided Design system and various network printer/plotter server products.

Defined and managed the development of software and hardware products for a turnkey CAD system. Developed product plans and coordinated large development projects among software developers, hardware engineers and technical writers. Supervised and contributed to the preparation of user manuals, training materials and supporting sales and marketing tools. Conducted sales presentations and training seminars for customers and field sales/technical support personnel at customer sites, field offices and the home office. Managed a staff of three Product Specialists.

1980 to 1983: Product Specialist - Systems Division

Defined the design and integration requirements of the interactive graphics utilities of the Basic Graphics System Software products for a turnkey CAD system. Conducted product demonstrations and customer/sales training seminars.

Developed, deployed and supported a complete Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing system for internal Engineering and Production Manufacturing departments. Also designed and implemented an interface to PayPal for on-line payment processing of annual membership dues and activity fees, which has driven over $60,000 in annual income. The design and implementation have also been leveraged by the equivalent state-wide organization that serves all of California.
