My objective is to obtain a position in Human Service Management, to advocate for those who are not empowered. To form interventions for those who fall through the gaps within program form for the underprivileged and poverty stricken. No matter the race, creed or color. To make sure those who would not otherwise be heard have representation that will fill the emptiness of disparity with hopes for a better tomorrow.
Accepting the challenge to make a difference in the lives of these individuals. Knowing that with focus on their abilities and talents, they can become productive members of society. These attributes are essential in obtaining direction in life. Knowing that with discipline and respect along with motivation gives everyone, a meaning and a purpose in life.
Educational Experience
I have obtained these accreditation wIth7 integrity through my studies in Human Services at the University of Phoenix, one of the top accredited Online Universities in the United States. I maintained a 2.4 G.P.A. during which my focus was Human Service Management. I was proficient in the Ethic of Human Services; I learn to advocate from community organizing to Grant writing. I was proficient in different organizational model use in Human Service Organizations today and helping form intervention for Families, Individuals with Disabilities. Children as well as those who experience problems with Addiction. I learned the business aspects of managing a Human Service Organization from top to bottom.
During the Bachelor Program, I maintained a 2.6 G.P.A. and learned to form community coalitions for Drug Abuse, Family Counseling as well as working with Homeless and the Elderly by forming intervention and networking. I was fortunate to serve both degree clinical at an agency funded through of the State Illinois that assesses senior for services for called Southern Illinois Visiting Nurses which reinforced my focus Gerontology. I also had the opportunity though Visiting Nurses to perform my clinical as an Director Aide at Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House. This program was under the Direction of Mrs. Traylor who was just setting up the services for senior’s program called Lessie Bates Continuum. This program provided senior transportation, Meal on Wheels, on site meals and activities and a pantry which provided food for those who were less fortunate. My experiences at this agency were unforgettable and will remain embedded in my mind long as I live.
I am currently enrolled enrolled in the Child and Adolescence Psychology program at University of Phoenix for my Master in Psychology. This is one of the most Competent programs in the United States and most innovative in the field of Psychology. This experience has and will allow me to measure my progress as well as giving me benchmarks for comparison. Helping me to create interventions with qualities that are motivational as well as inspirational. These are attributes that are boundless in creating results that are predictable as well as concrete in their outcomes.
Work Experience
Lessie Bates Neighborhood House / Services to Seniors
From May 15, 1982 to May 1996, I worked as a Homemaker whose basic duties were to help seniors remain productive members of society by aiding with activities of daily living. Task like house cleaning, shopping as well as other tasks to help them remain functional. In April of 1989. I tested for a position as Field Supervisor (Case Management) and scored highest with-in the organization. After being promoted to Field Supervisor my duties were to perform semi and annual evaluation of client services provided by the Organization. This information was then documented into files. Handling incident that occurred also forming intervention within the plan of care. Compliance reviews were periodically done by the Area on Aging to ensure quality of services. Due to budget cut that effected the service which resulted in a Reduction in workforce causing a layoff.
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services thru Volunteers of America
Worked as a Single Licenses Foster Adoptive Parent for 7 years from June of 1994 through September of 2000, raising 5 teenage boys and eventually adopting a son. My duties were to teach them dignity and respect as well as self-discipline. My duties were also to nurture them in their growth to adulthood. This included providing a home environment, washing, cooking and assistance other activities of daily living.
East St. Louis School District 189
From November of 1998 to the present I have worked as a Custodian at an Elementary School where my duties entailed the overall cleaning and maintenance and upkeep of a specific elementary school. The last 6 years I have served in this school as Lead Custodian over maintenance of James Avant Elementary School. Where I supervise a staff of 6 individuals in the maintenance of this facility. I supervise and assist as a team leader who is very active in the duties of the Janitorial staff. Their overall duties are to maintain a clean environment suitable for Children as well as meeting the criteria set forth by District 189. My duties also include scheduled maintenance for the facility and grounds. Each elementary school has an assigned Lead Person who perform these same duties. They also report to two supervisors one over Building and the other over Grounds who report to Director of the Program.
My overall experience is somewhat limited. I feel that my technique or fresh and innovative to make me an attribute to any organization. All is needed is the opportunity that I will take with integrity as well as utilize my talent in Human Services and Human Service Management to the best of my ability.
