Resume:

It’s difficult to summarize 35 years of work experience on a single sheet of paper. What you see on my resume is a snapshot of the past ten years. My marketing experience goes back over 15 years to a start-up marketing company in Waunakee. Looking farther back in my history, I’ve worked in academia (administration and classroom), been a local and touring stagehand, and even put in time on a factory floor.

My marketing experience includes design and implementation of direct mail, web, TV, radio, POP, and trade shows geared towards both B2B and B2C. The other experience affords me a broader view of both the work process and the world. And my time in China gives me insights into where mobile technology and emerging marketing techniques can expand. All these skills tie together to provide a more valuable team member for you.

For the past 6 years, I’ve been working in China as a language and marketing consultant; most recently pulling a Chinese company from an actively-harmful marketing approach to one properly aligned with a global market. Website engagement rose from 20 visitors per month to over 8,000 per month, partly driven by the addition of an entirely new Latin American market (~40% of engagement). We had just entered the African market when I departed, and had already seen a spike in new leads from that campaign. Overall inquiries through the website rose from zero for the first three years of operation to over $500k in qualified leads in Q1-Q2 of 2017, with projections trending upwards. All of this was accomplished on an extremely tight budget, with team from 4 countries, in 3 languages, within the constraints of a severe licensing restriction, and in the face of a sales force which was openly hostile to change.

Many companies are unsure how to react to my widely varied work history and life experience. They suffer from tunnel vision, focusing only on the job title before them. A more enlightened company understands that diverse life experience allows a marketing director to encompass the entirety of the process from conception to consumer and use that to build multi-path relationships. With over 35 years in the work force, my broad experience is especially valuable to small companies and start-ups, as it allows me to be a

“universal translator”. I’m able to understand designers, engineers, fabricators, advertisers, retailers, and customers, and negotiate all of their input into a strong, coherent message. I thrive in an environment where I can build a system from the ground up and establish a clear voice for the company. That voice tells the story of your company in a way which resonates with your target customers. I have told stories that are formal, friendly, compassionate, educational, and adventurous. What can I do for you?
