Experience
Application Engineer
April 1999 - Present (15+ years)
As an Application Engineer at MAHLE Industries for 2+ years (June 2015 to present), I use a custom authoring tool to incorporate vehicle data from various manufacturers into a vehicle diagnostic tool application I verify the hardware displays various vehicle control module data, the application can manipulate various vehicle system outputs, and the application would allow reprogramming and relearning of various vehicle control modules. I use vehicles or vehicle system simulators from various manufacturers, as well as CANalyzer, for data and operation verification. The current application is mcrosoft windows based, but we are developing apple and android platform versions. For 15+ years at Chrysler Group LLC (April 1999 to February 2015), part of my job was an Application Engineer / Administrator of a manufacturing quality audit application. I employed a custom authoring tool to expand the users audit capabilities, add new manufacturing plants, etc. I determined how to add and verify functionality of the deliverables, while adhering to deadline requirements. I also worked with the IT Group to create and verify enhancements and fixes to the application. The original application resided on one of the first microsoft windows tablet pc platforms, 1997 vintage, with a touchscreen, key pad, and ports for tools like an electronic torque wrench. However, the unit had limitations, it was proprietary hardware, and the technology was outdated, so I helped create a version of the CQR application that could be installed on any microsoft windows pc, an internet accessible website version for international users, and an Apple I-Pad / I-Phone version. We also were moving from a primarily text based application to a primarily graphical application, which would make navigating easier, save time, and reduce measurement entry errors. Vehicle controller area networks (CAN) are based on network architecture principles, standards, and methods used for buildings and the internet. For 30+ years I have worked with networks, data transfer, bits, bytes, hexadecimal values, protocols, computers, users, etc.
Business Analyst
April 1999 – February 2015 (15+ years)
As a User Systems Development Specialist at Chrysler Group LLC for 15+ years, one of my roles was liaison between the Quality Organization’s business groups and IT, which is now called a Business Analyst. I required minimal supervision. I gathered and documented requirements from various business groups, conveyed requirements to the IT groups, proposed viable projects to the business groups, worked with IT on the selected projects, tested and validated deliverables, provided scheduled project status updates/completion for business group management, and lead the business groups during project implementation. One of the groups had a quality audit application that was client-server based, and I helped move it to the corporate intranet as a database application, plus updates, improvements, enhancements, and I was also the administrator. The same group had a data collection application that was proprietary client based, and I helped provide availability for all corporate pcs, i-pads, and smart-phones. I also helped integrate it with the intranet database application. The application integrated ETL to create parameter subscriptions that extracted data from the manufacturing plants database on the corporate mainframe, transferred the data to an intermediate data storage facility, and loaded the data onto the intranet database application for the front end alignment and body systems audit groups. They also had a quality audit vehicle selection application on the corporate mainframe that I helped enhance to include a new audit that reviewed many more vehicles daily. The security access was controlled by a lotus notes site, and I was also the administrator. A couple of other groups had Lotus Notes repository sites I helped update, improve, and I was also the administrator. Another group, most recently, had two MS SharePoint sites I helped develop, and I was also the administrator on one of them. I lead the business group to ensure that same site took full advantage of SharePoint’s sequel server core and was as close to a database as possible, which eliminated hours of daily manual work. My goal as a business analyst is to automate manual tasks, whenever possible, using the most effective technology. Thus, I am always looking for easier and more cost effective ways to perform work, by analyzing business group processes and procedures. I successfully managed multiple projects with time constraints simultaneously for 15+ years. I successfully worked with people from executive levels (presidents, vice presidents, directors, senior managers, managers, etc.) to UAW hourly level. I have 40+ years resolving issues and determining the root cause in a variety of environments. I have a green belt certification in problem resolution techniques and tools.
Manufacturing Specialist
April 1999 – February 2015 (15+ years)
I have 15+ years of manufacturing experience with the Chrysler Group LLC vehicle quality audits group - one of my duties was to supervise and train UAW employees who conducted quality audits on end-of-line manufactured vehicles and resolve manufacturing quality issues at various vehicle assembly plants. The audits consisted of functional, vehicle layout, fit (flush & gap), and surface finish, all measured to engineering specs - GD&T, CMM, & ETL. I also supported end users in the same assembly plants, so I am familiar with various manufacturing applications. I understand six-sigma and statistical process control (SPC) concepts. I successfully worked with people from executive levels (presidents, vice presidents, directors, senior managers, managers, etc.) to UAW hourly level. I have 40+ years resolving issues and determining the root cause in a variety of environments. I have a green belt certification in problem resolution techniques and tools.
End User and Network Support Technician
April 1990 – February 2015 (20+ years)
As an End User & Network Support Tech for 20+ years at Chrysler Group LLC, I installed/repaired servers, pcs, printers, plotters, palm pilots, and fax machines, reimaged pcs both manually and automatically, upgraded pcs, and resolved software and hardware issues, including security issues. I created, maintained, and repaired user accounts, file shares, security groups, and user account startup profiles. I also managed quotas on file shares. I added servers, pcs, printers, plotters, palm pilots, and printer servers to networks. I resolved both wired and wireless device’s network issues. I worked with group policies for users and clients. I was the administrator for a windows nt server and for a group of novell netware servers – updates, upgrades, back-ups, file retrievals, etc. I performed work directly and remotely using various remote access software utilities. I am also an expert using active directory, word, powerpoint, excel, project, visio, outlook, lync, lotus notes, novell netware administrator, etc. I have advanced user knowledge of access. I supported operating systems from dos to windows 8, network systems from novell netware to windows server 2012, and application packages from dos-based to office 2013. I created macros, pivot tables, vertical and horizontal lookups in excel, macros in the corporate mainframe terminal emulators, and various scripts. I created, maintained, and troubleshooted SQL queries on corporate mainframe DB2 tables using the query management facility (QMF). I learn new concepts quickly and become an expert to enable me to help/train others. I successfully worked with people from executive levels (presidents, vice presidents, directors, senior managers, managers, etc.) to UAW hourly level. I have 40+ years resolving issues and determining the root cause in a variety of environments. I have a green belt certification in problem resolution techniques and tools.
Training Specialist
July 1985 – February 2015 (25+ years)
My entire career at Chrysler Group LLC included training others, writing procedures, and developing training material. I usually used a presentation (powerpoint, freelance) or word processing (word, word perfect) application to create the training guides. However, when Chrysler installed the Saba LMS environment for training in 2010, I developed web-based training modules using SCORM compliant applications – Skate Ignite (5+ years), Adobe Captivate (2+ years), and Articulate Storyline (1+ years) – but I also maintained the instructor led training guides. I have trained individuals and groups of various sizes. I have trained english speaking and non-english speaking, with an interpreter, audiences. I have trained people from executive levels (presidents, vice presidents, directors, senior managers, managers, etc.) to UAW hourly level. Training times have taken anywhere from an hour to a few days. I have trained in a classroom and via teleconference. I created interactive training courses. Anyone working for Chrysler was able to enroll and complete the courses. I learn new concepts quickly and become an expert to enable me to help/train others.
Technical Consultant & Help Desk
July 1985– February 2015 (25+ years)
I worked on various help desks at Chrysler Group LLC. As a Powertrain Technical Analyst & Repair Consultant for 3+ years in the Warranty and Service Organization, I prevented warranty repairs from exceeding 70% of the cost of replacing the powertrain assembly, provided technical assistance to dealership technicians for difficult repairs, provided technical assistance to corporate field techs, provided warranty policy information, and assisted in processing dealership warranty repair claims. I attended various Chrysler dealership technician instructor level training courses to learn the vehicles and consult with technicians regarding complicated issues. As a Component Analysis Engineering Specialist for 8+ years in the Warranty & Service Organization, part of my duties was to correspond with dealership personnel regarding warranty repair part returns, to monitor dealerships considered by Chrysler to be nonconforming to warranty policies and procedures, to monitor California Emission Dealerships’ conformance to CARB policies and procedures, and, when required, to visit dealerships for direct consultation. The dealerships used an application to submit their warranty claims called DIAL, which was on the corporate mainframe in a unix environment. The corporation supplied the dealerships with DIAL computers that connected directly to the corporate mainframe, via phone modem. Another of my responsibilities was to help the dealerships with level 1 DIAL application issues. As a User Systems Development Specialist for 15+ years, I was the help desk for end user support and various intranet, client-server, mainframe, and local client applications in which I was the administrator. However, since some users would call the general IT help desk for service, I also had an active IT service group, so trouble tickets were routed directly to my email inbox. I have 25+ years of help desk experience. I have 3+ years of dealership technical repair consultant experience. I have 10+ years of dealership warranty consultant experience.
