Recruiting Officer,
Hello, my name is Steve Robinson and I have been an employee of Boeing for almost 39 years and have been involved with all aspects of engineering from concept development through qualification and delivery of the customer’s product. My expertise and most of my professional career (>25 years) has been in mechanical design activities applicable to a variety of aerospace products (missiles, launch vehicles, spacecraft, fighters and commercial jets). These activities encompassed all project phases from initial concept development, proof-of-concept demonstration through manufacture, qualification and delivery. I also have significant expertise in systems engineering such as requirements development/definition, interface definition/management, etc., which is critical for bringing new, successful products to market.
The job description you have outlined significantly matches my experience and qualifications and I believe I have the technical attributes and background to support your company’s needs. I am an “out-of-the-box” thinking engineer who enjoys challenges that stretches an engineer’s imagination and today’s technology. I have been involved with, and led, many design challenges and concept development opportunities including spacecraft design, payload integration, fighter jet subsystems and even developed new, inventive mechanical design concepts leading to many invention disclosures and multiple patent awards. I have also worked with many unique materials from basic metallic materials (aluminum, steel, etc.) to exotic materials (titanium, beryllium, magnesium, graphite/epoxy composite, memory metals, etc.).
As to my other qualifications, I have many years (~10 years) of computer aided design training and experience starting with CATIA (III, IV & V), ProEngineer, AutoCAD & SolidWorks. As an acting manager, I have also led groups of engineers on a variety of projects ranging from basic R&D, “proof-of-concept” development/demonstration to qualification and delivery of major subsystems to customers. The teams that I led ranged from as few as two (2) to as many as seven (7). I am a “people” person and enjoy working in a consensus-type environment or working alone. I am also comfortable presenting results to upper management (up to vice-president).
Thank you for this opportunity to be a part of your team. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing this opportunity further with you. I have also included my resume (on the following pages). Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Steve Robinson
