PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Microsoft Field IT, Beijing, China
Data Operation Engineering Analyst, September 2007 – February 2010
Industry: IT Company
Project Description: The project gathered requirements and drove the functional/technical designs for Analysis Server tabular model. Additionally, the project required to demonstrate business result through office data connection, power BI, tableau with standardized visualizations from SSAS; suggested and implemented robust data security standardization in power BI, SSRS, and Tableau. Creating complex SSRS reports from the scratch for MS Asian and European teams for real IT supporting service and hardware maintain service spend with timely subscription.
Responsibilities:
•Involved in developing functional/technical specifications such as business scope document utilizing agile methodology.
•Created data mapping document between source, staging, documentation during the analysis phase by using visual studio.
•Involved in creating multiple database objects such as stored procedures, user defined functions, views, and indices. Utilized multiple joins, subqueries, and control flow statements to write complex T-SQL code.
•Involved in identifying dimensions and facts for the data mart; utilized star schema to design the data mart.
•Created proper Indices on fact and dimension tables to reduced execution time of queries. Extracted data from multiple Flat File/Excel/XML with various formats utilizing SSIS to load into dimensions and facts.
•Involved in deployment of SSIS packages to Dev environments with a project deployment model and resolved all issues with DBA team for server communication.
•Designed model by retrieving and integrating data from Supply Chain Management Procurement and Vendor Risk Assessment transactional database/data warehouse. Setup Dev environment on analysis server as deployment environment. Take responsibility for AS server migration from 2000 and 2005 to 2008.
•Involved in creating complex measures including ranking, aggregation in SSAS cubes according to business requirements.
•Wrote stored-procedures, Common Table Expressions to provide various SSRS datasets for supporting different visualization on SSRS reports. Developing C# built in function and SSRS expressions to standardize the graph color and customize the graphs inside SSRS.
•Supporting SSIS package production deployment by scheduling job agents on production server and setup package configurations and error alert strategy to track and resolve any processing issue.
•Involved with team on project updates by Visual Studio Team Services to create multiple feature and debug branch to help keep all history of project resources.
Technical Environment: SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, SSRS, SSAS, T-SQL, Visual Studio, SharePoint.
University of Oregon, Eugene, OR
Machine Learning Developer, January 2017 – May 2017
Industry: Educational Institution
Project Description: The purpose of the project is to apply five preprocessing strategies and six algorithms to analyze the movies data collected from IMDB and Facebook, and published on Kaggle.com. The primary goal is to predict the rating for each movie according to these nominal data and numerical data within 28 attributes in three ways: accuracy, training time, and mean error.
Responsibilities:
•Pre-analyzed classified attribute with Weka, and compared the results with classification methods and regression methods to choose algorithms to make predictions.
•Involved in analyzing data to fill values, transfer data, delete duplications, and convert data value with Standard Score Normalization in order to improve accuracy.
•Previewed the data distribution to create training sets and testing sets for cross validation.
•Converted nominal data attributes into analyzable attributes with “Bag-of-Words” method.
•Data processing with Linear SVM, Stochastic Gradient Descent, Kernel Approximation, Nearest Centroid Classifier, Gaussian Naïve Bayes, Forests of Randomized Trees with different loss functions and penalty functions.
•Checked overfitting with generated data graphs from different algorithms, limit attributes, and compared cross validation to determine the appropriate attributes, algorithms
•Involved in improving accuracy by checking accuracy and mean error with ensemble methods.
Technical Environment: Eclipse, Python, Scikit-Learn, Weka
