PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Senior Design- Design and Manufacture Human Powered Vehicle Frame for UTSA ASME
The frame for a human powered vehicle was designed and manufactured for competition in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Human Powered Vehicle Competition. The frame design complied with all rules and specifications as set by the ASME HPVC organization. A full analysis of frame was completed using both SolidWorks and ANSYS prior to the manufacturing phase of the project and a testing phase was executed to ensure that the frame could withstand all specification.
Mechanical Engineering Lab- Thermocouple Accuracy Investigation
Experimental investigation into possible effects that lead length and lead temperature have on the uncertainty and accuracy of a thermocouple’s measurements. A Design of Experiments approach was utilized and the main effects and interaction effects of 3 factors were determined.
Manufacturing Lab- Designed and Manufacture a Hammer
Starting from an aluminum cylinder and block, a lathe and a vertical mill machine were utilized to manufacture a hammer. The design involved threading, facing, inscribing letters, etc.
Audio Responsive Light System
Built a high-pass, band-pass, and low-pass filter on a circuit. The frequency signals outputted were converted, using an Arduino Uno board, to a digital response that would illuminate LEDs based on treble, midrange, and bass tones from the audio input.
Vapor Compression Refrigeration Cycle Design Project- Team Leader
Researched and designed a more efficient vapor-compression refrigeration system operating continuously for an industrial refrigerator. Considering both the economic and environmental factors, a system was designed, which cut down monthly costs by over 20%.
Development of a “Flappy Bird” Game using MATLAB
Using MATLAB, script was written that would move a bird icon from a starting position to a final position while avoiding obstacles.
Design and Analysis of a Drive Shaft for Automotive Application
Preformed a static failure analysis, fatigue failure analysis, and deflection analysis for a shaft design. Increased proficiency with SAP2000 for the deflection analysis and furthered experience with SolidWorks while creating a 3D model of the designed shaft.
