SLECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Kaman Precision Products achievements

Layout and consolidation of Fuzing programs into a mixed model cell to promote product flow, cross-training and sharing of best practices across programs.

Result: Customer satisfaction

Led structured activity to identify and eliminate root cause and process reviews to reduce labor.

Result: Reduced the amount of scrap by 31% 2016 and direct labor by 10%

Sikorsky Aircraft achievements

Instructed/trained Process Engineers, estimated and managed multiple projects on Black Hawk; Sea Hawk; S92. Incorporated drawing changes to support production in addition to concurrent engineering drawing reviews.

Result: All projects under estimated cost

Planned and implemented the use of a portable CMM system that could be used to verify critical characteristics of the aircraft aiding engineering in the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) concept. The collected information would represent actual part variation and used to increase or establish engineering tolerance bands.

Result: It has been projected that the information could save thousands of dollars in cost avoidance per program.

Analyzed and separated a repeating issue where similarly shaped parts were installed backward on the aircraft leading to hole related defects and created a system where those parts would be marked with a rosan indicating direction.

Result: 10% reduction in cost avoidance.

Conceptualized new tooling design that would ensure that the part was trimmed correctly improving product quality and reducing manufacturing assembly costs.

Result: The invention was viewed as a significant contribution to the IP/technology-base of the corporation, solving a long-standing problem.

Led a team of engineers in a root cause analysis of production issues on the program. Communicated the findings to upper management with a suggested plan to resolve the issues. Coordinated the efforts of eight manufacturing engineers in an aggressive defect reduction program.

Result: Reduced the aircraft cost by 30% per aircraft.

Resolved a long-standing problem with internal air voids within a bonded assembly that interrupted flow time and added cost by enhancement of the engineering design and instructing/training composite workers in a systematic bagging process that ensured uniform pressure during the cure cycle.

Result: An eight-hour labor reduction in flow time.
