OBJECTIVE:
Seeking full-time opportunities to collaborate with a team of engineers using my leadership and problem solving skills gained through my internship, global projects and chemical engineering design projects. Willing to relocate and travel 100% of the time.
EDUCATION:
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, MA
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, GPA: 3.73 /4.0, May 2018
Related courses: Heat & Mass Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Organic Chemistry I&II, Experimental Chemistry, Applied Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Advanced Chemical Processes, *Unit Operations I & II,*Chemical Engineering Design, *Chemical Plant Design Project (*To be completed by May 2018)
EXPERIENCE:
Manufacturing Operations Intern, PepsiCo, Killingly, CT, June 2017-August 2017
Collaborated with packaging experts and robot technicians to optimize robot's efficiency of packaging and distribution operation in the most constrained palletizing zone of Frito-Lay facility
Collected data on robot’s and zone’s performance and analyzed it using Microsoft Excel
Examined the robot algorithm and conducted time studies to identify any other areas of improvement
Presented and implemented final solution that ensured maximum throughput
Became familiar with an automated packaging department, case packing, palletizing and packaging lines
Gained knowledge of different manufacturing operations and various supply chain functions
SKILLS:
Laboratory Techniques: Chromatography (HPLC, TLC), Titration, Spectroscopy (UV, IR and NMR)
Software: Aspen, CAPCOST, Polymath, Mathcad, COMSOL, Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Maple
Foreign Languages: Fluent French, Advanced Spanish
PROJECTS:
Major Qualifying Project (MQP): Chip Fryer Oil, Frito-Lay/WPI, September 2017-Present
Working in a team four with the processing department of Frito-Lay to investigate the different properties of two oils used in frying potato chips in order to determine the most economical and efficient oil.
Chemical Engineering Design: Ethylene Oxidation Plant Aspen Simulation, WPI, October 2016
In a group of four, simulated the entire ethylene oxide process including all the recycle streams using Aspen. Performed a parametric optimization on the ethylene oxide water column by varying the reflux ratio and also based it on NPV.
Unit Operations I: Pilot Plant Scale Experiments, WPI, August-October 2016
Collaborated with four fellow students to carry out the following experiments on a pilot plant: gas membrane separation, packed tower, fluidized bed and gas flow. Wrote memo reports on the experiments and presented the findings to a group of professors and students.
Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP): Environmental Indicators Use, Costa Rica, January 2017-March 2017
In a team of four, worked with environmental experts and company representatives in San Jose, Costa Rica to better understand the barriers, and best practices associated with the use of environmental indicators in Costa Rica. Developed a workbook for companies to track their environmental data.
Advanced Chemical Processes: Batch Distillation, WPI, April 2016
In a group of four, analyzed the dynamics of a batch distillation column using Aspen. Ran the simulations in ideal and non-ideal conditions.
LEADERSHIP:
Resident Advisor, WPI, August 2015-May 2016
Crimson Key Admission Tour Guide, WPI, February 2015-Present
ACTIVITIES:
Student Customer Representative, WPI Bookstore, April 2016-Present
Member, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, WPI, October 2014- Present
