HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST
I joined Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health when a portion of Kalamazoo Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services merged as part of the creation of this start-up organization. The group I managed (2011-2014) and other groups were transferred at the same time. My primary responsibilities were in HR Compliance, Statutory and Regulatory requirements, employee relations, benefits management and HR business strategy.
HR Compliance, Regulatory and Statutory Responsibilities Developed organizational training and staff development initiatives. The areas of focus were diversity, safety, ethics and communication, and compliance. Designed and implemented the organization’s annual evaluation process, rating scale and rollout.
Maintains compliance and ensures security for all legal, personnel and regulatory files.
Keeps organization current on Federal, State, and local employment laws and regulations.
Leads employee investigations and provides guidance to leadership and employees.
Fashioned and implemented the staff evaluation system. Employee Relations
Created and led the Cultural & Inclusion Committee promoting organizational awareness and accord. Attained record high scores on an organizational culture survey performed by Human Resource Management of Kalamazoo, MI. This committee developed and implemented an ongoing employee recognition program which included “above and beyond” achievements, peer to peer recognition, and honoring employees and their families for personal and work achievements.
Spearheads the hiring process from recruiting to onboarding.
Conducts employee investigations, work plan implementation and follow-up.
