I am a PMI-certified project manager with a passion for creating exceptional documentation by simplifying complex ideas and making them relevant and understandable to the intended end user.
SUMMARY
I have more than 10 years of writing experience working in private industry information technology (IT) settings, federal and local government locations, military client sites, public school systems, in hospitals and in post-graduate research settings. My writing experiences were gained in all phases of artifact development including research, organization, draft development and revision, peer review, and format planning. My guiding writing principle is simple: Content must be accurate, clear, concise, and confirmed. My project management experience comes from a variety of government, private industry, and educational initiatives. I am a humanist who celebrates the uniqueness and value of all individuals. I am a US citizen and last held a security clearance in May 2012.

Project Manager KinderCare Education, Information Technology, Portland, OR (2014 – 2017)
KinderCare Education (KCE) is the leading early childhood education organization with over 12,000 Centers nationwide. KCE Center technology is managed by the Information Technology (IT) team at corporate headquarters in Portland, OR. After a short initial contract PM/BA assignment, I was hired by the CIO to act as a liaison to key corporate business partners. My responsibility was to build trusted relationships, understand business priorities, identify technology opportunities, and manage approved business projects that required IT team expertise. I resigned my position to return to the east coast after an error-free deployment of my final project – a SAAS IT service management tool.
Senior Business Analyst TEK Systems for Regence/BCBS Cambia, Portland, OR (2014 – 2014)
Before leaving the east coast, I contacted TEKsystems, one of the largest IT staffing firms in Portland, OR for employment assistance. I was offered a short-term Senior Business Analyst opportunity immediately after moving to the city. It was a proof of concept project for a healthcare organization. My responsibility was to develop preliminary documentation including foundational project definition, initial scope statement, high-level project objectives, and as-is and to-be process flows gleaned from executive strategic statements, and IT team member and business stakeholder interviews.
Principal Consultant & Project Manager J. Martin Thomas & Assoc., Silver Spring, MD (2007 – 2013)
In partnership with The McKenzie Group, a Washington, DC-based educational consulting firm, the JMT consultancy provided me exciting opportunities to support a variety of educational initiatives. My roles included technical support (project set-up and administration), research (student learning and academic performance), and technical documentation (templates, user guides, feature descriptions, trouble-shooting, FAQs, knowledgebase articles, etc.). Client engagements varied and included both full and part assignments. The JMT consultancy closed with the passing of the principal.
Principal Consultant TeraThink, Reston, VA (2011 – 2012)
TeraThink is a Northern Virginia team of IT consultants who support Federal and Defense clients. I was hired as part of a two-year Navy Program Management Office (PMO) Business Process Standardization (BPS) initiative. My major responsibilities were to facilitate monthly stakeholder workshops to capture the existing variety of financial processes, develop/validate as-is workflows, and create/revise PMO artifacts including project initiation, execution, and management documents.
Client Relations & Process Re-Engineering Manager United Solutions & Services (US2), Fairfax, VA (2010 – 2011)
US2 provides core IT competencies including Business Process Re-Engineering (BPR), Project Management, and other Engineering Services. My tasks on this Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD) project were to nurture strategic client relationships with the leadership team, capture business-identified needs, present IT team proposed solutions that addressed organizational vision and goals, and develop recurring project status communications and technical documents.
Senior Business Analyst Applied Information Sciences, Reston, VA (2008 – 2010)
AIS (Applied Information Sciences) provides software and systems engineering services to US government agencies and businesses. For this process improvement initiative, I lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews and stakeholder meetings to solicit and capture critical business operations information including process objectives, triggers, activities, responses, outcomes, metrics, and risks. Through this research, I identified and documented 250+ previously undefined processes. Additionally, I developed project plans, process and procedure documents, and user training manuals.
Deputy Project Manager & Program Quality Assurance Lead CACI, Inc., Fairfax, VA (2007 – 2008)
CACI is a global information solutions and services organization. I was promoted to provide onsite IT project management and leadership for an Army client. I managed all personnel matters and directed a team of 16 technology professionals including a 24/7 help desk team who provided technical support to soldiers on the battlefield. My quality assurance (QA) responsibilities were to develop a plan to attain project milestones within specified budgets and schedules. I also conducted interviews with cross-functional teams and documented 75+ existing processes to guide service desk improvements.
Senior QA Analyst SI International, Inc. (Acquired SERCO in 2008) Fairfax, VA (2006 – 2007)
SI International offered IT and network solutions for the federal government. I was hired by the QA Manager to complete verification of recurring daily software deployments of the Federal Thrift Savings (TSP) software application. As a part of my validation procedures, I wrote, reformatted, and revised ~1,000 existing software test cases and eliminated repetitive or obsolete processes to realize significant annual savings for ($100,000). Additionally, I collaborated with the development team to automate post-deployment validation processes before completing this engagement.
