Fabrication and characterization of carbon nanopipettes by carbon vapor deposition and etching
Performed carbon vapor deposition within Quartz and Borosilicate micropipettes followed by etching
Characterized inner carbon nanopipettes with Scanning Electron Microscope to compare individual thickness
Achievements
Plummeted the temperature of deposition from 950 C to 600 C by using Acetylene instead of Methane for CVD
Eliminated the need of catalyst by optimizing Acetylene/Argon gas flow rates and duration of deposition
Significantly increased strength of carbon nanopipettes making them utilizable for cellular diagnostic applications

Attained NPGF pore size of 80 nm by zeroing down plating parameters (temperature and electrolyte concentration)
Attained NPGF roughness factor 100x that of Au thin film and 2x 2mm disc electrodes, optimal for nanosensing
Independently catapulted applicative development of NPGF with bottom-up processing and stepwise examination
Successfully established modified NPGF as an electrochemical sensor for detecting trace heavy metal ions in water
