Vice President Engineering

Responsible for the engineering team developing reciprocating gas compressor packages for nitrogen, air, natural gas, and helium applications. Designed a helium vapor recovery system which was previously vented to atmosphere and compressed back to over 8,000 psig.

Responsible for developing package design standards and modular system methods to meet both customer driven specifications while utilizing and developing best practices.

Responsible for project specification development, schedule and budget to ensure the end product met design goal while being under budget and on-time.

Provide training and development for the Project Engineer’s as well as the company as a whole in order to take on larger and more challenging projects by integrating American Petroleum Institute standards for a lean manufacturing process.

2010-2015 Air Liquide Houston, TX

Director - Product Development (Small On-Site Hydrogen Steam Methane Reformer)

Responsible for the design and product development of small on-site hydrogen generators increasing system uptime to 98% while debottlenecking the system to produce 30% more gas product.

Serve as the design authority for the product to ensure changes did not compromise safety or performance. Achieved 0 loss time injuries through use of process and job hazard analysis programs developed for the product.

Trained project engineers about the technology and operation by creating a reverse process simulator in which personnel could experiment to understand how the system reacts to changes in process conditions without risk of actual equipment damage.

Promoted to Local Technical Career Ladder – Senior Specialist by the peer selection group in recognition of expertise within the industry.

Project lead for a $26 million international Engineer Procure and Construction (EPC) natural gas purification project. Managing customer requirements from Europe, engineering design from the United States, with manufacturing predominately in Asia, while keeping the project aligned with greenfield site construction by the end user in South America.

2005-2010 H2Gen Innovations Alexandria, Virginia

Vice President - Field Operations

Responsible for the operation of small on-site natural gas steam reformer plants for the production of hydrogen globally reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors

Managed all aspects of Field Operations from Project Management, Quality, Installation, Maintenance, and product development.

Created global SCADA data logging system and analysis to help identify changes in plant performance before an unplanned outage occurred. Thereby reducing system downtime. Created diagnostic review process to troubleshoot and diagnose deviations from normal operation and equipment failure for all unit operations. (Steam Methane Reformer, Water Gas Shift, Hydrodesulfurization, and Pressure Swing Adsorption)

Lead Process Hazard Analysis for new designs and modifications as well as provided training to end users Environmental and Health Services team to corroborate system safety design.

1994 - 2005 BOC Gases Nampa, Idaho

Principal Engineer – Environmental/Electronics

Develop and implement new process applications for BOC. Responsible for PLC control software, electrical, mechanical, and overall process system design. Coordinating additional engineers and technicians’ skill sets to meet the design objective. Once concept has been commercialized train additional engineers for rollout into the field.

Worked with small in house design team to develop a bulk high purity liquid carbon dioxide system for semiconductor wafer cleaning. Primarily responsible for control system and electrical.

Responsible for the system design, installation, and project management of applications using high purity industrial gases for BOC’s semiconductor customers in the Pacific Northwest. Project manager responsible for proposal, budget, timeline, and construction using multiple subcontractors and disciplines to provide turn-key application solutions.

Designed the first BOC bulk high purity liquid helium supply system at a customer site. Impurity levels were typically less than 10% of the current best available technology while reducing delivered gas cost by 30%.

Capable of working independently or as a team member to exceed project objectives. Able to interface with the customer and sales team to determine overall project scope and schedule.
