WORK EXPERIENCE
Claim And Training Analyst
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company - Columbia, MO
07/2004~06/2016
My position included primary responsibilities for both pre litigation and litigation injury claims. Duties include prompt attention to external and internal customers, close contact with defense counsel and senior State Farm management. This position stressed a high call volume and superior customer service. My promotion to training analyst used my success as an injury claim specialist to aid in the development of new training products. The role included lead project manager skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently. I maintained quality checks and training responsibility for ten direct reports. My team made enterprise-wide recommendations for injury training.
Throughout my twelve-year career with State Farm I completed insurance and financial industry coursework towards the goal of completing my CPCU. I developed a wide knowledge of insurance process and work force management, and further honed my
my customer service skills.
Store Manager
Blockbuster - Columbia, MO -
03/2002~05/2004
I served as the opening store manager for Blockbuster 95244. As manager I directed a staff of 25 employees, training each one directly in the art of sales and customer service. The duty for day-to-day financial operations was mine. Under my guidance the store was awarded multiple sales prizes consistently out performing stores in larger markets. During my two-year tenure I was named store manager of the quarter four times.
EDUCATION
BA in English-Black Studies
University of Oklahoma
August 1998 to May 2007
As an undergraduate I excelled at writing I won the essay competition for first, third and fourth year students and investigating complex historical questions involving causation and agency. While studying I was named a Carl Albert Fellow in Political Science and an Ewing DC Fellow which allowed me to serve as a congressional researcher for a summer term. I presented my research at several prestigious conferences.
I also served as an academic advisor to the winningnest (probably not a word) college football team since WW II, the mighty OU Sooners! (dances around, mocks Missouri; explains, in small, slow words, to MU fans what a national championship is). Fun fact: before 1997 Missouri football enjoyed 14 (1 4) seasons without a winning record. Fun fact? Funny fact.
My crowning achievement as a student remains the publication of a co-authored essay with Dr. Mitchell McKinney, who is now (mumbles) a Tiger, entitled “From Hope to Heartbreak: Bill Clinton and the Rhetoric of AIDS” published by Lawrence Erlbaum, 2001.
