My responsibilities consisted of providing all routine and emergency respiratory care to all patient areas. Collaborating with physicians, nurses, therapists, PT/OT/SLP therapists and CNAs to develop and recommend patient age-specific plan of care and implement treatment plan. I provide clinical direction, consultation and education for respiratory care technicians, trainees and other health care professionals. Educate patients and their families about their disease process, and appropriate management. My duties include naso-tracheal and nasopharyngeal suctioning. Provide tracheostomy care. Recognize problems and trouble shoot ventilators. Deliver High Flow therapy. Conduct discharge training and management of technology-dependent patients and management of critical care and home care equipment including but not limited to oxygen and nebulized therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, BiPAP, CPAP, transcutaneous PCO2 and PO2 monitoring, pulse ox monitoring, trending and ventilators.

Continually educating patients and their families about pt. conditions and updating any new treatment plans. Recognize and identify ventilator problems and troubleshoot functions. Performed brocho-pulmonary drainage techniques. In home mechanical ventilator setup and management. Performed point of care blood testing including arterial blood gas testing. Perform intra-hospital transport, either ground or airlift of critically ill patients to assist pt. with artificial airway. Assist with flexible bronchoscopy at pt. bedside or OR. Perform portable spirometry and pulmonary function testing. Perform intubation and extubation. Incorporate clinical experience to assess and employ a plan of care specific to each pt. Administer medications and verify dosages to maintain a safe environment.
