Manufacturer and distributor of home and long-term care medical products that promote recovery and active lifestyle. Project Engineer/Mechanical Engineer, Respiratory Division Provided engineering support for the following Invacare respiratory products: Stationary Oxygen Concentrators, Portable Oxygen Products, HomeFill Oxygen Systems, and Oxygen Accessories such as Cylinders.

Managed multiple quality related projects as part of the Post Market Engineering (PME) team utilizing problem-solving and time-management abilities to identify the root cause of issues and implementing creative, targeted solutions:

Utilized CAD modeling software SolidWorks to update prints to reflect engineering changes including changes to Bill of Materials (BOMs) as well as applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T).

Requested through drafting to generate part numbers in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to document the part drawings and BOM structure.

Collaborated with suppliers on quality or delivery issues on parts provided to manufacturing.

Conducted design reviews with supplier and supplier quality engineer.

Initiated and conducted verification and validation protocols to ensure changes being made met desired input. Used test equipment such as a thermal chamber, vibration table, drop table, and concentrator test station. Worked with outside test labs such as Intertek and OnSpex. Reviewed and approved test reports once testing was completed.

Reviewed and approved Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure supplier met all requirements stated on the print(s).

Coordinated with manufacturing to ensure that work instructions were properly updated as well as reviewed end of line testing as part of the pre-production build.

Utilized JAMA software to update the traceability matrix.

Developed project timelines used to report out to the management team.

Implemented unique device identification (UDI) on respiratory products to meet FDA requirements.

Implemented a change to the HomeFill Oxygen Systems to meet the latest IEC60601-1 medical device standard.

Introduced a new regulator that would be used with both domestic and international stationary oxygen concentrators.

Qualified new material, polycarbonate to non-combustible, for the patient outlet fitting to meet ISO 8359 safety standard.

Implemented a change to revert back to original sieve material after current sieve material was discontinued by supplier.

Assisted in change to address sieve dusting issue by identifying when the dusting occurred, what caused it, and a resolution.

Implemented a change to move the capacitor in a different location inside the stationary oxygen concentrators for both domestic and international models after determining the capacitor was being damaged by the compressor during use.

Implemented a change to meet the sound requirement of 40 dB for all stationary oxygen concentrators sold in Europe. This involved replacing the current foam, used on the inside cover of the concentrator, with a foam that had a sound damper sheet. Also, changed the mounting scheme of the compressor by going to a softer spring.

Qualified a phthalate free PVC material for the F-Tube and Y-Tube so to be REACH compliant.

Updated service manuals by collaborating with technical writing and the service center to provide more accurate and up-to- date procedures to repair respiratory products.
