Engineering Department is responsible for Tooling Design and Development of all new products, along with implementation of continuous improvement projects to optimize current production. Other departmental responsibilities include new product quoting, prototypes, and part re-costing validation.
Successfully reduced New Product Development time from 24 months to 2-3 months. This was accomplished through implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Practices.
Continuous improvement is a high priority. This focuses my team on Tool life improvement through improved design, materials, or setup methods.

Responsible for 3 Tooling Engineers, 2 Product Engineers, one Facility’s Technician, and an Engineering Administrative Assistant. Manage $3,000,000 tooling budget along with Short and Long New Product Launch performance tracking.
Took New Product Development from a first-time success rate of about 40% to a success rate of greater than 90%. Reduced new product development time from 20 weeks to 8 weeks. This was accomplished through implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Practices.
Department is responsible for all Tooling Design for new products along with implementation of process improvements to optimize current production. Other departmental responsibilities include Product development (prototypes), routing setup, and new part costing.
Continuous improvement is a high priority. This focuses my team on Tool life improvement through improved design, materials, or setup methods. My team is also lead with the attitude that even if it isn’t broke it doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

Engineering Manager – R&D and Manufacturing
Worked with Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Customers to develop products that were manufacturable and would meet the customer needs from a performance and cost standpoint. Worked globally with our facilities in Japan and Europe. Spent extended periods of time in Japan during join development projects.
Successfully reduced New Product Development time from 3 years down to 8-10 months depending on product complexity. This was accomplished through implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Practices.
Responsible for 4 Engineers, one Toolmaker, a Lab Technician, and one Machine Operator. Manage $500K+ departmental budget along with Short and Long Term Project performance tracking.
Department is responsible for R&D of New and Me-too Industrial Rivets. Performance is tracked by PVI, with a goal of 15% yearly.
Despite being the manager, I also participate in a role of personally designing and manufacturing products as necessary. Designs were performed on Inventor10 (3-D Modeling Program), and manufacturing involves equipment such as FX35L, NP60, NP40, 246TR and others.
