Software Developer Intern – Primus Global Technologies, Irving, TX-USA January 2017-May 2017 Real Time Currency Comparator Tool (Java, Swing UI, Junit,Windows)
• Designed and developed an application that allows the users to track the currency conversion rates in real time
• Parsed the XML data from pre-defined URLS and popped notifications when target rate was reached
• Applied multithreading to allow tracking of multiple conversions simultaneously
• Conducted unit testing using the Junit testing framework Instructional Assistant- College of Social Work, UH January 2016-December 2016 Journal Tracking System (Java, SQlite, Android SDK,Windows/Android)
• Developed a journal tracking system that could let the user know the status of the journal during its review process in Android
• Used SQLite database, XAML for UI and Java to facilitate communication between presentation layer and Database
• Developed the database with multiple entities such as manuscript, author, reviewer, editor Academic projects:
Flight Data Analytics (Python, Apache Spark, My SQL,Linux) January-May 2017
• Wrote Python scripts utilizing the PySpark API to convert a huge data set (about 3.5 GB) of flight data into various data storage formats such as CSV, JSON, Sequence file system
• Developed SQL queries to extract useful information such as number of delayed flights, ratings of airlines and airports
• Measured the performance of each storage format while executing the queries so that best storage format to store the airline data can be recommended
Multi-Threading protocol for restricted access (C++,Pthread library,Linux) August-November 2016
• Developed a proof of concept that utilizes POSIX threads and semaphores to restrict access for the user defined threads
• The aim was not to allow two dissimilar threads to have access to the same place at the same time
• Major challenge was to ensure that there was no deadlock situation among the threads Cache Performance Monitor (C++, PAPI API,Linux) January-May 2016
• Implemented programs in C++ to analyze the performance of System Level Cache counter while executing computation intensive algorithms such a K-means on large data sets
• This analysis can be used to further fine tune the algorithm to reduce the execution time
• Utilized PAPI (Performance Application Programming Interface) to access and read cache counters
