PROJECTS

Norix Group: July 2017 – Present

I was brought in to rework (“refactor”) poorly written C# / MVC code from an overseas 3rd party that wasn't developed to the client's expected level of quality as well as to make enhancements and bug fixes where necessary.

Norix Group: March 2017 – May 2017

I was brought in to take over maintenance and development of the company’s applications while the primary developer was out of the country for 6 weeks. My work there was split approximately 2/3 maintenance and 1/3 new development and split approximately the same between .net and SQL development respectively.

Inland American / InvenTrust Properties: July 2014 – December 2016

I had a variety of roles in the I.T. department during our separation from our parent company to an independent entity. I was responsible for helping to migrate SQL Server databases and other custom applications to our new systems. This not only included doing installs but on the back end included doing setting up and configuring data feeds and FTP accounts, linking with our new JDE system, testing, documentation, etc.

I was involved in our migration of our Avid AP system to our new Nexus AP system. This involved extracting the data from Avid and J.D. Edwards, setting up a variety of back end processes (batch jobs, FTP jobs, SSIS jobs, custom .net code, etc.) and scheduling everything appropriately to transfer the data to Nexus on a daily/hourly/immediate basis.

I was involved in overseeing our web-site maintenance. At last count we had 362 web site domains and several third-party people that maintained them. I was responsible for overseeing this – relaying and testing major revisions to the sites, transferring domains when we bought/sold properties and other such high-level oversight as required.

Since we were a newly independent company without other corporate assistance, about 25% of my responsibilities were one-time jobs to help with the separation and fell into the “other duties as required” category. Listing all of these miscellaneous things would cause this resume to be several pages longer, so hopefully this paragraph will suffice as a description.

Aim Specialty Health: December 2013 – July 2014

My job in the Membership department was to process and parse incoming data files from a variety of external sources so our internal systems could use that data. Since AIM has many combinations of products and services that our member companies could subscribe to, there are many data format combinations in which the data can come across. This processing requires merging custom C# and SQL code in with existing boilerplate code so that each customer’s unique data can merge with the rest of our background processes seamlessly.

WinTrust: January 2013 – December 2013

My job was to develop and debug several Web applications (using Visual Studio 2010 and 2012, ASP.net, C#, Entity Framework, AJAX) that corporate and member banks would use for their day-to-day business and reporting. About half of my time was spent upgrading and maintaining existing asp.net applications as per user’s requests. The other half of my time was spent converting the existing legacy system into a 3-tiered asp.net application. Since I was the main developer, I would need to create any necessary database tables (using SQL Server) and/or stored procedures, views, etc. that needed to be created in order to get the web app working properly. This position was about 70% development/user interface development and about 30% maintenance/database development.

Draper & Kramer: March 2012 – January 2013

My job was to convert 100+ accounting-related reports from their existing system (MRI) and re-write them using Microsoft SQL Server and Crystal Report to go against their new accounting system (Yardi). This was made even more challenging in that their old system’s reports used proprietary reporting technology which means that I couldn’t use any of the old system’s code; I had to figure out what the old system was doing and re-write it using modern SQL/Crystal technologies.

Sage Products (Healthcare): May 2011 – February 2012

I developed a data processing system for their hospital-based hand-hygiene tracking system. Approximately 80% of my time was spent in developing MySQL views and stored procedures to process the data we received from the hospitals and to convert the data into data which we could actually use via “Summarizer” routines. This summarized data would then be further processed and manipulated to be used in other reports. The other 20% of my time was used in other ancillary things – creating FTP routines to get the data from the hospitals, creating reports, creating documentation as well as any other things that needed to be done.

Intren: April 2011

Developed and maintained several ASP.net corporate websites applications which used VB.net 2008 as well as SQL Server 2008

Cintas: Oct. 2007 – Sept 2010

Cintas bought a competitor and about 28 of the 30 of the I.T. staff either quit or were let go because of duplication of job responsibilities between the acquired company and corporate. Most apps were easily moved to corporate, however, they still needed to support some of the more “unique” apps until they could be moved. I was brought in to assist in the maintenance, bug fixes and other miscellaneous development that was required to keep the system running. My duties included maintaining and developing their web-based ordering/ reporting sites which was written in MS JScript, C#.net, VB.net. Another significant part of my duties was spent on SQL Server issues (debugging, writing queries, bringing old queries up to new requirements, etc) on all of their queries, stored procedures, functions, etc. The rest of my time was spent in a variety of ways – helping users fix problems, run reports, documentation and all of the other non-technical things that go along with the job.

Leap of Faith Technology: Aug. 2007 – Sept. 2007

I was brought in to help meet some deadlines in a time-critical project. This was a VB.net Smart phone app that I helped develop and debug. I helped develop several database procedures, BLLs, DALs and other .Net related logic to expedite the project.

Sirva: Jan. 2007 – July. 2007

Created numerous (15-20) reports for their ServicEngine (SE) and Assignment Pro (AP) platforms. These were written in MS SQL Server/Crystal Reports as well as in the application’s reporting language. I worked daily with our overseas offices (London, Hong Kong and Sydney) to develop these reports as well as the data import/upload procedure. The reporting was done on our U.S. based systems and since our Asia offices uses different systems, they would send their monthly data to us where I would put it in the correct format for uploading to our system. Towards the end of my contract, I was also responsible for creating the documentation as well as training my replacement to perform this process. Since she didn’t have any SQL Server permissions, I had to created a DTS script to look for upload file she created.

AT&T: Jan. 2006 – Jan. 2007

Was responsible for developing and maintaining numerous in-house-built apps and reports that supported numerous aspects of the National Yellow Page line of business including Production Reporting, Forecasting, Rescopes and several others. Since these were in house apps, I had to directly work with the users in analyzing problems and building the solution. In addition, since there was no training or documentation department I had to create the documentation as well as training the end-users on how to run the apps. The apps and reports were written in a combination of VB, SQL, Acrobat, Access and Excel.

Tyco: Feb. 2003 – Sept 2005

I developed an ASP.net based plant-wide data gathering/distribution system (a.k.a. the “Digital Hub” (DH)) that gathers data from several sources - AS/400 files, Access databases, Excel spreadsheets, Syscon PlantStar flat files (created from UNIX cron jobs), SQL Server and other sources including hand keying and bar-coded entries. This system is used by 75+ office people within the company and is being utilized by every department in the plant. (That facility runs 24/7/365, therefore, this system had to be reliable, easy to maintain, robust yet simple to operate – all of which was accomplished. This system is used to tie in data from various systems and use that data to make decisions on a real-time basis – as opposed to the old 24 hr. wait for all the data processes to run manually and manipulate.) The DH’s purpose was to collect all this data and use it to generate custom reports that could not of been created using this data separately as well as to enter data into the DH in it’s own SQL tables to complete anything missing. SQL, ASP and VB are the main tools used to build this system. Various DH systems were created for the Production Reporting, Manufacturing, Scheduling and other divisions within the factory. I was also responsible for developing the training material for the DH as well as working side-by-side with the trainers as they trained everyone on the system. I also created the required documentation for the required Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Ameritech: Feb. 2002 – Feb. 2003

Developed several intranet reporting applications for the Infrastructure Maintenance department using Visual Basic, Cold Fusion 4.53, Crystal Reports 8.5 and SQL Server 2000. Also created database tables, views and table structure conversions.

Ameritech: Dec. 2001 – Jan 2002

I helped complete a reporting application for the billing department developed in Access and VBA.

There I developed numerous SQL queries to manipulate the data for the reports.
