Retired, Separated, Divorced, Ran My B&B [2009-2011]

Here’s a quarter, call someone who cares! Life goes on – cooked gourmet breakfasts, did laundry, cleaned toilets, made beds, dusted and vacuumed … and happened upon an opportunity to host a perfectly charming student from Lithuania to come here on a J-1 work study visa for a summer … what a silver lining that experience was for us both as we took time off from being co-innkeepers to travel to see my daughters in NY and VA, go to a six Flags rollercoaster park, and do a whitewater raft excursion! Went to Lithuania for a couple of weeks the next summer to meet her family and tour the country with them then she returned to spend the summer with me in Abilene the summer after that … and I found my competitive match in Scrabble. I continue to correspond with her and her Dad. And she, her boyfriend, one of my daughters, and a friend here in Abilene play an email version of Balderdash weekly.
