EDUCATION

University of British Columbia Kelowna

Electrical Engineering, December 2017

Graduating in December 2017.

APEGBC Student Member

International Major Entrance Scholarship (UBC, Okanagan) for winter session of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Relevant Courses taken in final term ending December 2017

I have taken courses in Digital system design and Embedded Systems. As part of courses I have written programs in C/C++, assembly code. I am also currently learning Verilog.

CAPSTONE Project from Husky Energy Sept., 2016 – Apr., 2017

My Capstone project in final year of electrical engineering was to design a facility for Husky Energy . It involved optimizing the production cost of its liquefaction plant for producing carbon dioxide.

Worked with four other team members contributing to electrical setup for the project. Implemented the learning from my coop experience to practical engineering problem solving.

The project required the installation of an auxiliary power supply and reduction of the utility bills.

Auxiliary power was to save loss of productivity in case of occasional power outages. Reduction of electric bill would help save costs as it forms a big part of plant’s operating costs.

For the auxiliary power supply we designed a micro grid which consisted of a Renewable Energy Source – Wind Turbine, which would produce 0.5 MW of power, a non-renewable energy source – Diesel/Gas Generator which would produce 2 MW of power and a Tesla Energy Storage System – Utility Scale Batteries for peak shaving and enhancing reliability and provided 0.5 MW of power.

Electrical engineering and Computing Projects

Digital Signal Processing Term Project Sept., 2014 – Dec., 2014

Created a Matlab program that captured an audio signal, analyzed the audio signal in frequency domain and converted the frequency domain response into power spectrum. The program also used inverse DFT to estimate the autocorrelation. Demonstrated the successful working of the program to the instructor and submitted a final project report

Engineering Computation and instrumentation

Jan., 2012 – Mar., 2012

Programmed in C++. Have 27 months of OO Programming experience in C++.

Hovercraft Design

Jan., 2014 – Mar., 2014

Designed and constructed a working model of remote controlled Hovercraft. Worked as a group of six and contributed to providing solutions to problems faced by the group. Documented our design, test results and schematics.

Researched and learned vital information about the hovercraft. Gained valuable insight into how to solve an engineering problem. Learnt importance of team work and how important everyone’s contribution. Developed team work and problem solving skills.
