Finance Manager, PIMCO Finance

A USD $3.3 billion division of Allianz SE, a German financial services company, USD $135 billion (ETR: ALV). FP&A department of 20, managed team of 6 responsible for three current year forecast and multi-year budgets. Developed process flowcharts, narratives and desk procedures for a variety of accounting and operational processes including: credit, collections, accounts receivable, sales orders, shipping, pricing, and month end close, consolidation and reporting cycles.

Allianz Asset Management LLC (AAM) – Newport Beach, California

A USD $3.3 billion division of Allianz SE, USD $135 billion (ETR: ALV). SAP Data Conversion Analyst responsible for reconciling 14 months of financial data for +60 standalone, consolidating and consolidated entities, both operational and legal structures including GL trial balance, income statement, balance sheet and AP & AR aging reports. Analysis of activities with intercompany trading partner affiliates and effect on elimination processes. Systems used: SAP, PeopleSoft & nVision.

SA Recycling, LLC – Anaheim, California; Mexicali, Mexico

A USD $600 million joint venture between Sims Metal Management Limited (NYSE:SMS) and Adams Steel LLC. A group of ferrous and nonferrous metal recyclers in the Southwest US and Northern Mexico. Consulted on startup entity in Mexicali, Mexico operating as a Mexican Maquiladora with revenues of USD $30 million. Prepared opening balance sheet and purchase accounting entries including fixed assets transfer, inventory transfer and intercompany advances. Developed written operational and statutory procedures for VAT/IVA tax accounting, Safe Harbor calculation and income tax calculations. Designed translation from MXN to USD consolidation processes and mapping for US set of books.

HID Global Corporation – Irvine, California (1993 – 2006)

HID Global Corporation is the largest worldwide manufacturer of RFID contactless access control cards and readers for the security industry with annual group sales in excess of USD $400 million and 900 employees. A subsidiary of Assa Abloy AB (Stockholm Stock Exchange: ASSAB) with combined revenue of USD $5.6 billion. Tenure with HID saw significant organic growth with many years topping 100% and acquired growth of over $250 million. Worked closely with executive team who guided the company through a leveraged buyout and subsequent acquisition. Titles and accomplishments include:

International Director of Finance (promoted from US Controller)

Supervised staff of 6 with responsibilities for all global translations, operational & legal consolidations and financial reporting; global training and compliance of internal controls; global Oracle structure, implementations, training and helpdesk; strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting; US payroll and benefits processing and accounting; banking and cash management; acquisition purchase accounting and integration, Interim Controller. Extensive travel for integration, implementation and training include United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, China.

Oversaw global month-end close, prepared translated and consolidated financial statements for actuals, budgets and forecasts for plus 30 multi-national, multi-currency business units with locations throughout EMEA, Asia Pacific and North & South America using Oracle 11i and Hyperion Financial Management. Ensured monthly reporting and management presentations were finalized by 4th business day and included analysis of variances and other key ratios including growth, operating income, cashflow, RoCE and benchmarking metrics. Managed Assa Abloy Identification Technology Group AB, a Swedish entrepreneur company holding all IP, R&D and shared services consisting of finance, HR, IT, global procurement and corporate functions. Responsible for agreements, allocations and transfer pricing activities affecting 14 entities throughout EMEA, Asia Pacific and the Americas. Partnered with PricewaterhouseCoopers on transfer pricing and allocation agreements and models.

Managed team responsible for implementations and integration of Oracle 11i throughout EMEA, Asia Pacific and the Americas. Global implementations consisted of a hierarchy of 5 business groups, 16 sets of books and over 30 legal and/or operational units with approximately 60 finance users. Team analyzed and reengineered current business processes to achieve best practice and statutory & operational compliance to policies and procedures. Team coordinated setup and documentation, testing and desktop procedures in preparation for ‘go live’. Collaborated with project manager and specialty consultants. Established Oracle finance helpdesk.

Supported Executive Team through a leveraged buyout and subsequent acquisition, followed by acquisition or merger of more than 20 entities over a seven year period. Responsibilities included supporting purchase accounting, integration and due diligence. Growth strategies focused on intellectual and process technologies, distribution channels, complimentary products and manufacturing capacity.

Restructured Oracle chart of accounts to accommodate extensive international growth and IFRS reporting requirements, incorporating complex security and validation rules. Redesigned all Oracle FSG reports, financial statements and cost center expense details (actual and budget). Created ad-hoc reports to analyze accounts with ODBC links to Oracle tables.

Division Controller & US Controller (promoted from Accounting Manager)

Managed staff of 17 with 9 direct reports for 5 US business units and shared services in the US, overseeing receivables ($20m), payables ($20m), inventory & cost ($8m), cash and banking, financial planning and analysis, 3 day month-end reporting cycle.

Selection and implementation team for ERP system choosing Oracle 11 and upgrade to Oracle 11i. Led setup, documentation, workflow and desktop procedures for the general ledger, receivables, payables and cash management modules. Initial implementation in 3 US business units, later rolled out globally to plus 30 entities over a 7 year period.

Designed, directed and administered annual 5 year strategic business plan; annual operational budget including income statement, balance sheet, cashflow, KPIs and benchmarking; monthly rolling forecast using Oracle and Hyperion.

Maintained accounts receivables DSO average at 45 days, down from 65 days. Reduced bad debt to less than 0.1% annually.

Instituted an ABC Cycle Count procedure resulting in a 4% increase in inventory accuracy to 99.4% and reducing wall to wall audit requirements from yearly to every fourth year for the US operations saving $40k annually. Lowered Material Through Put Time from 110 days to mid 60 days over 1 a year period.

Responsible for cash management and banking requirements with +15 active accounts within US Organizations. Forecasted and coordinated cash and foreign exchange requirements with corporate treasury.

Managed all US internal and external audit engagements. Coordinated global audit efforts for all international business units.
