JULY 1974 to JUNE 1988: Machine Tool Serviceman at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford, CT.
Qualifications/Experience: At Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, I serviced and repaired simple and complex machine tools of a mechanical and hydraulic nature, including conventional and CNC controlled. Also learned and performed PM program specifics. I successfully completed 2 year in-house serviceman course. which included various shop skills and practices. Machines included everything from a pedestal grinder to a 3000 Ton hydraulic press. I also have the ability to read assembly drawings, technical and spare parts manuals, and attended many in-house vendor seminars, and was chosen to go into the field for seminars for new machine training courses. I was also involved in maintaining 2 rigs that diffusion-bonded critical 1st stage vanes, this process was the latest and best metal fusing technology available for hallow jet engine parts. Utilizing my machining abilities, I fabricated repair parts when replacement parts weren’t in stock, significantly reducing downtime.
At Poly-Matrix I serviced and repaired Injection Molding machines and ancillary equipment, using mechanical, hydraulic, electrical & electronic skills. I also serviced machine support equipment, such as tower and chill water, compressed air and material systems, as well as various vendor supplied and in house automation, using electrical and hydraulic schematics and drawings. I edited the ladder logic programs of parts handling automated assemblies, resulting in significant damage control to the components in the case of a malfunction, especially relating to the safety circuits. Being promoted to lead mechanic after 2 years, I was responsible for all production and quality related problems, working beneath the Production Supervisor and being on call 24/7.
At Co-Mack Technologies, I was exposed to a wide variety of molding machine types from different vendors, and various fixtures and special-purpose machines. I had been offered the job by the first boss I had at Poly, him having first-hand knowledge of my skills. I was successful at that job, which also included ordering spare/replacement parts for the equipment and being on call 24/7, which led me to pursue my career into the field service aspect. My boss and I had replaced a maintenance dept. consisting of 3 employees.
At HPM Corp, I performed in-field new machine installations and trained customer employees on machine set-up and operation. Customer services included difficult system troubleshooting and repairs, utilizing my experience working with HPM molding machines at Poly-Matrix.
At Netstal Machines, I performed in-field new machine startups, software and hardware downloads/upgrades. Also interfaced downstream automation and programmed the parts handling equipment for transfer position and reject part disposal. I attended the field service training for 5 months at their facility in Switzerland.
I then left California and was welcomed back to Poly-Matrix by the Director of Automation, him also having first-hand knowledge of my skills and abilities. I assembled and installed automation assemblies, both mechanically and electrically, and suggested modifications to the automation to facilitate ease of installation and repair. The last 1 years, I was called upon to go into the maintenance dept., since 3 mechanics had recently quit.
I left there and was hired by GL&V. My duties include fabricating electrical and pneumatic control cabinets working from engineering drawings. Recently was involved in a machine interconnection to the bench board control for machine try-out on the shop floor for customer review prior to shipping.
I possess all the tools necessary to perform my job, and I have PC skills, as well as a high school diploma.
I have attempted to keep this resume brief, so any questions that you may have about my specifics are encouraged. Thank you for your time and consideration.
