Director of Catalyst Sales, General Manager CDTi Japan dual responsibilities (2014 to September 2017)

Sustained a consistent track record of expanded responsibilities to become a collaborator with the CTO/VP of business development to close deals and grow revenue. Drive chemical sales to catalyst coaters worldwide, negotiate contracts, manage key programs, and oversee a small-but-vital order processing team.

Significant Contributions:

Developed and launched a new worldwide $10B Catalyst Chemicals (Powder) Program to Catalyst Coaters World-Wide. (Marketed as P2C (Powder to Coat)).

Formed a lucrative development program with the world’s top Japanese auto OEM. Company confidential.

Successfully negotiated with Tanaka Holdings the opening of the Asia market worth $10B.

Managing Director of IMPCO Tech Japan KK based in Santa Ana California (2011 to 2014)

Based in Santa Ana, was recalled to serve position I left in 2008. Managed Corporate strategy, US-based business managers for revenue forecsting and pipeline building. Remotely managed Japan subsidiary web-based marketing, P&L, budgeting, cash flow, quality control, HR, KPI establishment, and Sarbanes Oxley implementation.

Significant Contributions:

Key management team member for developing the business plan and launching IMPCO’s CARB/EPA-certified engine business for Forklift and Industrial OEM’s.

Restructured the Japan subsidiary by aligning strategy and standardized activities with US headquarters, as well as establishing new OEM supply relationships with Hino Motors, a Toyota subsidiary; resulting in growing Japan revenue from $3M to $27M. Commercialized two on road truck programs and earned Hino’s Global Contribution Supplier Award.

Developed a global alliance with Nissan’s Industrial division (now Unicarriers) worth $50M.

Successfully negotiated with the Board of an Auto OEM to settle a recall matter into a service campaign

GE Energy (Calnetix Inc.) – Cerritos, CA

Developed Americas distribution and pipeline for a renewable energy product worth $39M, which was sold to G.E. Develop product placement, competitive analysis, distribution strategy, implemented RSM’s and distributors.

Other Significant Contributions:

Led the Americas transfer of the micro-turbine product line to Capstone Turbine Corporation, negotiated a key technology transfer agreement with a major Indian telecom company.

Based in Santa Ana, started as Program Manager and advanced through roles of increasing scope and responsibility. Was promoted to Managing Director of Japan subsidiary in December 2002.

Established Strategic Partnership with Mazda Motors for fuel system and engine supply

Generated $20M by securing OEM supply with Toyota and Kubota Engines.

Established distributor to facilitate engine supply to OEM’s, including Tailift (Taiwan), Heli, and Hangcha

Increased new business with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo by establishing a distributor in Korea.

Successfully managed a fuel system project with Honda R&D for the US and China market.

Development Engineer III (1997 to 2001) Automotive Power-train, Power-plant engineering

Assigned Project Leader for the 2004 model US Accord engine. Established strategy, budget, and schedule of engine proliferation to various platforms. Spent a six-month assignment at Honda R&D headquarters in Japan.

Other Engineering Contributions: Engineered and designed Honda Element engine intake system, cruise control for Civic, and HVAC display units for Acura models.

Nippondenso (Denso) of Los Angeles – Long Beach, CA

Senior Product Engineer (1993 to 1997) Automotive HVAC, engine heating & cooling

Joined as Product Engineer and one year later was promoted to Senior Engineer. Lead interface to design teams in Japan for localizing components to meet Denso quality, VA/VE, and ensure compatibility with US suppliers’ processes and materials. Lead engineer for developing Goodyear A/C hose to fit Toyota standards. Excelled as technical liaison to Toyota and other OEM’s in communicating design changes prior to vehicle launch.
