SUMMARY:

After 28 years of experience in the healthcare industry including working my way up to Director of Facilities Engineering, I have a proven track record as a leader and mentor, always putting the hospital and the patient's best interest first as well as my employees. I have 10+ years of experience in the commercial construction industry, schools and hospitals with expertise in metal stud framing, sheet rocking, acoustical ceilings, taping and floating and painting. I also have 19+ years of experience with the Harris County Hospital District Engineering Department to include all aspects of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, locksmith, as well as the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment. I am able to read blue prints, manuals, diagrams and schematics.

Facilities Engineering Operations

Responsible for maintaining daily operations of the facility, to include but not limited to: Managing a total of 30 FTE’s, Operations Manager, one coordinator, and three supervisors for 866,492 sq. ft. with two physical plants, low pressure, and high pressure plants.

Develop and maintain an in-house engineering program that ensures cost effective, quality equipment maintenance.

Communicate with administration and staff regarding the physical and structural conditions of the facility and status of work in progress.

Oversees accuracy and effective utilization of department’s utility equipment and inventory management software systems.

Ensured operation of Utility, Fire and Life Safety, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Elevator, Medical Gas Systems, Building Automation and Utility Systems.

Ensure effectiveness of Building Maintenance Program (BMP). Compliance is met based on the procedure guidelines set for the department.

Maintained building MEP systems.

In collaboration with project manager, oversee any alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment building systems.

Responded to emergencies as needed and communicate to Administrator and Senior Management as needed.

LEAD TECH - Facilities Engineering - Thomas Street Health Center- July 1994 - January 2007. 2015 Thomas Street, Houston, Texas.

As Lead Tech I was responsible for running the entire facility.

Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment as well as keep documented maintenance records on such equipment and entered in the ITMS maintenance software system. Daily check of the Metasys System for the proper function of all equipment. Monitored/changed temperatures on the Metasys System. Monitored isolation rooms and printed daily reports for Infection Control.

Maintained records of all permits, safety, MSDS, environmental rounds, Infection Control reports. Dealt with contractors for bids and developed scopes of work for projects. I was responsible for the safety report at monthly staff meetings and conducted all fire drills. Daily building rounds.

Plumbing included: Replacement of sump pumps and piping, replacement and rebuilding of hot water valves. Replacement of pneumatic and electronic actuators. Worked with PVC, copper and steel pipe. Soldering and braising.

Electrical included: Troubleshooting, retrofit lighting, installation of new outlets and all general electrical maintenance to maintain smooth operation of the facility.

Carpentry included: Metal stud framing, sheet rocking, acoustical ceilings, layout design, cabinet making, formica work, floor tile, ceramic tile, mortise doors and door closers. Built many desks, book shelves, child care area, cashier office, volunteer office and all work required of me by administration. Estimated time and material for projects. All aspects of painting. Very knowledgeable in all aspects of carpentry trade including Raco door frames, track and sidelights if needed. Light welding when needed (i.e. burglar bars for the clinic).

Locksmith duties included: Key making, duplicating, core pinning, lock picking, installing of all types of locks and door hardware, worked on automatic doors and gates.

Researched and completed People Soft requisitions for material needed for all contract work at Thomas Street. Entered ITMS work orders on a daily basis.

All aspects of painting. Called in to use my knowledge in the construction trade to layout and build 30 offices at the Holly Hall Administration lease space. Built many desks, cabinets, book shelves, etc, as required by supervisor. With my carpentry knowledge, I was in charge of most of the remodeling and new construction projects. When needed, I was sent to other HCHD facilities to perform what was required of me.
