Mechanical Designer – Design of mechanical products / components for push button locks, assembly tools, gauges, and fixtures. Detailed mechanical drawings, 3D assemblies for tolerance analysis to maximize form, fit, and function. Check all Engineer drawings for accuracy. Also responsible for engineering support of ten product lines – troubleshooting and error-proofing. Work closely with Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing Departments (Assembly, Plating, Stamping, Zinc Die Casting & Tool Room), Customer Support and Technical Services, Quality Control, and outside vendors. Consistently research into product improvements and/or cost reductions through innovative designs, practical manufacturing and assembly methods, and simple BOM reviews/corrections through Axapta. Write Technical Manuals, Operator Manuals, Authorized Work Instructions (Standard Work), and Installation Instructions. Utilize AutoCad, Mechanical Desktop and Inventor (primary), GD&T, Word, Excel. Engineer Assistant (2 years) – Assisted Engineer with product evaluations, assembly lines, component redesigns, CAD drawings, product testing, and minor design changes.

Accomplishments

Redesigned numerous zinc die cast and stamping components, saving the company 1000’s and improving quality and efficiencies. I.E. eliminated the need for a purchased, $4 component and replaced it with a designed, powder metal $0.04 part. Designed the mechanics of a Narrow Stile, electronic push button lock from Marketing Product Specification to final release. The challenge was to mate one lock with multiple hardware accessories utilizing gears, levers, and knobs. Implemented Lean standards to (5) product lines, improving efficiencies up to 50%. Personal
