Objective

To be a member of a team that needs my many years of experience improving quality, decreasing cycle time, and reducing costs on complex equipment as a manufacturing, test, process, and equipment engineer.

Employment

Samsung Austin Semiconductor

Equipment Engineer 3, 7/2014-7/2017

Tool owner for 15 Endura2 PVD tools (PAD Al and NiPt processes)

Reduced MTBI by 50% and stop loss by 11% while output increased by more than 300%

Using RGA data, defect data, and vacuum trace charts was able to determine multiple causes and solutions for prestep pressure faults in PVD chambers

Reduced median particle and out of control levels on multiple chamber types with some reductions greater than 70%

Part of team that successfully started up a new Endura2 tool to meet the increased customer demand

Responsible for troubleshooting tool issues and implementing permanent corrective actions

Responsible for PM schedules, spare parts and standard operating procedures

Heliovolt

Equipment Engineer/Tool Owner, 1/12-3/14

Supported two in-line PVD sputter tools running molybdenum, iZnO, and AZO and one thermal reaction (RTP) tool

Responsible for the tools’ performance: uptime, cycle time, product quality, spares, PM schedule, continuous improvement

Reduced pump down time for AZO by 50% by adding water trap, UV emitters and optimizing pump down recipe

Performed testing, experimentation, and data analysis with research and development teams which helped to improve our solar modules efficiency results to 16%

Identified relationships between pulsed DC power supply arc counts and negative process results

Developed accurate model to determine target replacement/PM schedule

Part of team that investigated and improved inline panel breakage from upwards of 20% to less than 1%

Developed a rate-of-rise routine to validate MFC flows to ensure accurate gas flow rates

Project manager responsible for all vacuum pumps on site including managing repairs with suppliers

Adecco (Applied Materials)

Extended Factory Team Engineer, 5/11-12/11

Engineering support for multiple outsourced mega-modules (gas panels, chamber modules, mainframes) addressing design, quality, on-time delivery, cost, and cycle time issues

EFT engineering support for several new product designs

Ultra Clean Technology

Test/Manufacturing Engineer, 9/07-12/10

Project lead responsible for developing test fixtures to validate new products which required performing the following activities: concept, feasibility, design, debug, deployment, and release

Developed and implemented test strategy for Intuitive Surgical’s patient side cart that is part of the Da Vinci Surgical System

Helped reduce internal and external non-conformances by eliminating the root cause as the Test Engineering quality focal

Test engineering focal for Standardized Supplier Quality Assessment (SSQA) which helped in obtaining the highest score to date for all UCT facilities. Activities included preventative maintenance/calibration (schedule and completion), training of test operators, updating/releasing test procedures/documents, maintaining test equipment failure database and performing closed loop corrective actions to eliminate or reduce impact of failures to quality and delivery

Member of Statistical Methods Team which developed a statistical method plan for the site. The plan included what methods would be used, determining what critical parameters should be monitored and then setting up control charts for those parameters. I also performed a Gauge R&R with a customer on our internal test fixtures for MFC flow data which resulted in an acceptable result.

Tested multiple Applied Materials gas panels, subassemblies, and mainframes for Etch, CVD, FEP, RTP, MDP; tested several Varian gas panels and gas sticks; tested Axcelis gas panels

Applied Materials, Austin, Texas

Modular Final Test Engineer, 12/06-7/07

Supported testing of the HDP-CVD 300mm chamber and auxiliary equipment (gas panels, RF Generator Racks, Heat Exchangers, vacuum pumps, AC racks) which included troubleshooting test failures, data analysis, non-conformance review and corrective action, engineering specification waivers, preventative maintenance, process and product changes

Used test results from Tool Grading and other analysis to determine the causes and permanent solutions for the three most significant issues affecting quality and cycle time: independent helium control analog noise, remote plasma source faults, and heat transfer failures on uppers which were also causing particle issues at customer sites

Troubleshot Final Test issues for all DSM systems (Centura 200/300mm, Producer, HDP) as the only engineer on third shift to ensure products shipped on time with exceptional quality

DSM/CVD Final Test Engineer, 2/02-11/06

Supported testing and troubleshooting of Centura 5200, Centura 300mm AP/4.0, and Producer systems

Acted as gas panel lead which included working with vendors, field, and manufacturing on all issues

Core member of the Tool Grading team, an SPC/green belt program, that reduced non-conformances in the field by 32.6% which saved the company more than $1,000,000 within a year - team received the Global Quality & Reliability Team of the Quarter award in Q3 of 2006

Core member of the Modular Final Test team that eliminated the need to perform Final Test on 300mm HDP Centura APs saving 10 days of test which included following two systems to customers in Taiwan to ensure any systemic issues were captured and eliminated during the startup

Led team that fixed design, manufacturing, and packaging issues on the HDP turbo throttle valves which reduced non-conformances by ninety percent

DSM Chamber Manufacturing Engineer, 2/99-1/02

Supported assembly and testing of all MCVD and DCVD chambers and subassemblies

Transitioned the HDP 300mm Chamber Testing to volume manufacturing from pilot manufacturing (NPI project)

Helped reduce chambers lagging defects by 64% over two years and Producer chambers lagging defects by 56% over one year as the quality focal for Manufacturing Engineering by adding new test fixtures and improving other test fixtures, creating poke yoke tools, correcting assembly documentation, increased training, and making design changes via the ECO process

Participated in many DMR (discrepant material report) reduction projects that saved the company money by eliminating the root causes

Worked with chambers work center to reduce cycle time by removing non-value added testing at Module Test saving more than two hours per chamber

Transitioned multiple products and tests from pilot to volume manufacturing

Performed Engineering Change Orders to correct Bill of Materials, build procedures, safety concerns, productivity, and quality issues

Zero Defect Control Manufacturing Engineer, 10/96-1/99

Developed new test strategy for chamber work center related to ZDC’s mission of reducing defects and eliminating Final Test for all chamber types in CVD line

Project Manager/engineer for four test fixtures which included specifications, layout, debugging, characterization, implementation, training, and support as well as ensuring cost and schedule met or exceeded expectations

Project Manager on HDP 200MM Chamber FMEA that produced thirty projects that reduced cycle time, quality defects, and several safety issues

Participated in RF Design of Experiments to determine the important factors that affected the RF plasma tests done in manufacturing

Resolved multiple non-conformances working with the customers and vendors

Received the 1998 Global Quality Recognition Award as a member of ZDC
