Practice, Experience and Interests

General surgeon : From May, 2004 till October 15,2009 at Umbda Teaching Hospital (200 beds) in Omdurman, Sudan,a hospital with heavy workload, I was a head of one of 3 surgical units, with full responsibility of covering surgical emergency room, surgical OPD, and Operating room, I was also responsible for training and assessing surgical house officers. Monthly surgical audit was essential activity in the unit.

I have good operative experience in routine cases as thyroidectomy (benign and malignant), prostatectomy (retro pubic and transvesical), repair of different hernia types,orchidopexy, cholecystectomy (laparoscopic, open mini cholecystectomy), mastectomy (simple and modified radical of patey), Bile Duct exploration, parotidectomy (superficial conservative ), high ligation for varicose vein,skin graft & wound management, diabetic foot, amputations, and other elective procedures for miscellaneous surgical conditions, in addition to emergency operations for intestinal obstructions, testicular torsion, and trauma surgery.

I worked (partime) in cardiothoracic surgery department at Elshaab teaching hospital Khartoum, Sudan. In the period between February, 2007 to June, 2008. Independently performed thoracotomies for decortications and shared in different lung resections and open cardiac surgery.

Worked (partime) in laparoscopy& endoscopy department at Omdurman hospital in the period between March, 2009 to September, 2009. Registered as specialist in general surgery by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, the professional accreditation certificate dated on May 13, 2010.

Specialist in general surgery : from October 20, 2009 till July 20, 2014 worked in Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Hospital, ministry of health, Alahsa, Kingdom Saudi Arabia as specialist in general surgery, I gained advanced experience in minimal access surgery in most general surgery cases (gallbladder,appendix, different hernia types, spleen, fundoplication, exploratory laparotomy) .

Research fellow: I joined Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan for one year fellowship, finished in July 30, 2015, to enhance in depth my surgical knowledge & practice in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery open& laparoscopic according to the best scientific evidence.

Weekly program in my fellowship includes 2 day for major operations in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, 2 days for liver transplantation starting with full review of the recipient and donor, 2 living donor liver transplantation are done per week, in addition to unscheduled deceased cases, daily clinical rounds in the ICU and surgical wards. And combined pretransplant weekly meeting for cases evaluation in radiology department, also academic activity held once weekly discussing a scientific paper published recently in high ranked journal.
