Dear Sir or Madam:

I am a newly graduated Nurse Practitioner student (May 12, 2017) and a 2008 graduate of Southern University School of Nursing. I returned to nursing school to acquire the skills needed to become a more effective advocate for patient care and I hope to work with an organization that focuses more on a caring nature towards clients.

Since undergrad, I worked as a Registered Nurse Supervisor on a thirty-five bed Medical-Telemetry floor at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for one year. Prior to that, I was the charge nurse of that unit for five years. I work forty to sixty hours per week to accommodate the needs of my unit and was a great asset to the company. My nursing career has humbled me and taught me to think critically, listen to my patients, perform as a “team player,” and manage my time and skills well. I am also highly motivated, trustworthy, and dependable. Currently, I have been working at Baton Rouge General Medical Center for one year, on an as needed basis, while completing my Nurse Practitioner program.

I welcome the opportunity to elaborate on how I can make a substantial contribution to your organization as a Nurse Practitioner. I look forward to hearing from you soon to schedule an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Katrece Barber, BSN, RN
